I just found out that the...

[Shift (↑) + Alt]

... toggles the Chinese Character Fonts on my PC.

  is the [Shift (↑)] Button

  is the [Alt] Button

The 8 Principles of 永 (Yǒng = Forever)

The 1st Chinese word I will have to learn.

永 = yǒng
= "forever"
= "permanence"

1 ~ the Diǎn 點/点
, is a dot,
filled from the top, to the bottom,
traditionally made by "couching" the brush on the page

2 ~ the Héng 横
, is horizontal,
filled from left to right,
the same way the Latin letters A, B,C,D are written

3 ~ the Shù 豎/竖
, is vertical-falling.
The brush begins by a dot on top, then falls downward.

4 ~ the Gōu 鉤/钩
, ending another stroke, 
is a sharp change of direction
either down (after a Heng)
or left (after a Shù)

5 ~ the Tí 提
, is a flick up and rightwards

6 ~ the Wān 彎/弯
, follows a concave path on the left or on the right

7 ~ the Piě 撇
, is a falling leftwards (with a slight curve)

8 ~ the Nà 捺
, is falling rightwards (with an emphasis at the end of the stroke)

9 ~ the Xié 斜
is sometimes added to the 永's strokes.

Chinese Wedding

Just 2 days ago, I was at TTSH (Tan Tock Seng Hospital) on Monday, 25 Aug 2014, for my Physiotherapy and MRI Scan (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) of my spine, both were for the numbness in my right lower arm which is probably caused by my neck and spine pinching on a nerve. 

They (TTSH) had an Exhibition showing the very interesting tradition of a Chinese Wedding, so I took some photos. Check the photos here below.

Online Dictionary

I've stumbled upon this and found it interesting. May be useful for me in searching for Chinese Words as it has the Romanized Word with the 4 Chinese Tones.

I'll be using this more as an English-to-Chinese-to-English-Dictionary... but it's more than that... read below.

Fish ~ Pie Chia / Pek Tor

I remember this fish. Read this guys blog. Very interesting.

My mum sometimes cook this for me during Chinese New Year because I love Fish Roe... which reminds me... she said she would do it this year...
...but she hasn't done it yet... mom! MOM! MOM! MOM!...

"...in my growing up years i do not remember we having yusheng for our chinese new year celebrations but we did have another fish dish - the pek tor fish or pie chia fish. the pek tor is especially popular with the teochew during the chinese new year season. however, since all chinese share the view that whole steamed fish is the symbol of long life and good fortune, it is not surprising that other dialect groups also take to the fish. the pek tor (white belly) fish is available all the year round but during the chinese new year season, it is special. that is when the fish start to spawn. the females are laden with roe... read on"
