Song, Lyrics & Breakfast ~ HONEY BUNCHes of Oats

This is a current breakfast craze of Dots,
'Honey Bunches of Oats ~ by Post'

Reminds me of a song... (scroll down to below this picture)

Reminds me of a song...
originally sung by the Four Tops...
if you see the Video of them singing,
you'll know why they're called the 'Four Tops'...
they're always spinning a round while singing the song.

However... I like the 2012 Modern Version sung by Jessica Mauboy...
I think Dots may know who she is, they're the same age.

Here's an excerpt from wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Mauboy)

Jessica Hilda Mauboy (born 4 August 1989)
is an Australian R&B and pop singer, songwriter and actress.
In 2006, Mauboy was the runner-up on the fourth season of Australian Idol,
she had auditioned for the talent show in Alice Springs, Northern Territory to pursue a recording career.
Mauboy subsequently signed a contract with Sony Music Australia.

Lyrics:

I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)
~ originally sung by the Four Tops

Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else

In and out my life(in and out my life)
You come and you go (you come and you go)
Leaving just your picture behind.... (ooh)
And I've kissed it a thousand times (ooh)
When you snap your finger, or wink you eye,
I come a-running to you
I'm tied to your apron strings,
And there's nothing that I can do

I can't help myself,
No, I can't help myself,

'Cause, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
I'm weaker than a man should be
I can't help myself
I'm a fool in love 'ya see

Wanna tell you I don't love you,
Tell you that we're through
And I try....
But ev'ry time I see your face,
I get all choked up inside
When I call your name,
Girl, it starts to flame
Burning in my heart,
Tearing it all apart..
No matter how I try
My love I cannot hide....

'Cause Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
You know that I'm waiting for you (waiting for you)
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
I'd do anything you ask me to (ask me to)
I can't help myself
I want you and nobody else

Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch
You know that I love you (I dooo)
I can't help myself...
No... I can't help myself

Dance with My Father ~ by Luther Vandross & Richard Marx

First, I'd like to say that Luther Vandross sang very well in the original and I love the the melody and lyrics of the song. However... the only thing that I don't like about the song... is the percussion... I wish I could turn it off... because it just didn't blend with the everything else.

Here's what Wikipedia had to say about this song...
"Dance with My Father is the thirteenth studio album by American R&B-soul singer-songwriter Luther Vandross. It was released in the United States on June 10, 2003 by J Records, his final album to be released before his death on July 1, 2005. The album, especially its title track, was dedicated to Vandross' late father. The album earned Vandross two American Music Awards in 2003—Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album—and four Grammy Awards in 2004—Song of the Year and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Dance with My Father" (also nominated for Best R&B Song), Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for "The Closer I Get to You" (with BeyoncĂ©), and Best R&B Album. Chart performance and sales... Dance with My Father debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, moving some 442,000 units in its opening week alone, and also topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, after debuting at #42 the previous week. It was Vandross' only album to top the U.S. albums chart. It was also his eighth album to reach #1 on the Top R&B Albums chart; this is also his first #1 R&B album in twelve years since the release of Power of Love. Dance With My Father also stands as the biggest selling studio album of Luther's entire career with over 2.9 million sales in the United States alone. The title track single was a hit on Pop, R&B, and Adult Contemporary radio. It received the 2004 Grammy Award for Song of the Year, which Luther shared with his father."

I've included that recording at the bottom of this blog so hopefully you'll be able to understand what I'm talking about.

But before that recording... please listen to these covers and enjoy the song for what, I feel, it should sound like.

The Videos are below these Lyrics.

Lyrics:

Dance with My Father
Original Singer: Luther Vandross
Co-Writers / Composers: Luther Vandross & Richard Marx

Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me
And then
Spin me around 'till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure
I was loved

If I could get another chance
Another walk
Another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never ever end
How I'd love love love
To dance with my father again

When I and my mother
Would disagree
To get my way I would run
From her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
yeah yeah
Then finally make me do
Just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he
Would be gone from me

If I could steal one final glance
When final step
One final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never ever end
Cause I'd love love love to
Dance with my father again

Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how mama would cry for him
I'd pray for her even more than me
I'd pray for her even more than me

I know I'm praying for much to much
But could you send her
The only man she loved
I know you don't do it usually
But Dear Lord
She's dying to dance with my father again

Every night I fall asleep
And this is all I ever dream

The Original Recording:

My notes: Please note the ugly percussion in the background music. Surely... this could have been a much better recording. I did hear this song on radio where percussion was not audible due to loss of fidelity over the air-waves and it actually sounded better.

My Beliefs ~ by Steven Sharp Nelson:

• I believe the purpose of life is to be happy.
• I believe the best way to be happy is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and to love others more than yourself.
• I believe family is most important.
• I believe we are all children of a God who loves us dearly.
• I believe that good music can be a source of joy, inspiration, and fulfilment.
• I believe as Bobby McFerin once said, listening to only one kind of music is like inisiting on living in only one room of your home your entire life.
• I believe in as much laughter in life as possible, but not at another's expense.

I believe the cello is the coolest instrument in the world. (smile)

About Steven Sharp Nelson:

Steven Sharp Nelson (born 1977) is a pioneer in "cello-percussion"—an alternative performance method that combines traditional, lyrical cello techniques with unconventional pizzicato and percussive technique. He was born and still resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. He began studying cello at age 8, percussion at age 12 and guitar at age 17. He has invented a new method of playing the cello that combines elements learned from each of these instruments.
He has studied the cello, (still his primary instrument) under Ryan Selberg, Stephen Emerson, and John Eckstein. He obtained a degree in music from the University of Utah School of Music, graduating in 2002.
Nelson's true cello career began when he was 15. He was recruited by Peter Breinholt to arrange string parts and perform with Breinholt's band, Big Parade. Since then he has recorded on over 100 different albums ranging from folk & bluegrass to hip hop. He has also made his way as a solo artist. His first album Sacred Cello (2006)[1] was atop the Billboard Charts. He has since two more solo albums that have also received significant acclaim (Tender Mercies, 2008 and Christmas Cello, 2010)
Nelson is well-known for his collaborations with pianist Jon Schmidt--most particularly in their mash-up arrangement of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and Cold Play's "Viva La Vida," a YouTube sensation. Schmidt and Nelson perform regularly together throughout the United States and the world.
Nelson also teams up often with pianist Paul Cardall and has written most of Cardall's orchestrations.
Nelson's shared performance and compositions with pianist Marshall McDonald are also of note. Among other works, Nelson and McDonald have composed two symphonies together (Spanish Trail Suite, 2006 and Africa, 2008), the second of which was featured in the number one classical podcast in the world and was download over 30 million times.[2]
Nelson's influences include Victor BorgeBobby McFerrinPeter SchickeleYo Yo MaU2Sting, and James Taylor. His trademark style is to always including parody, comedy, and musical "shtick" in every performance.
Nelson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Julie, have 3 children.
