. STRANGER THAN PSY: LIM CHANG-JEONG IS QUIETLY HILARIOUS POSTED ON NOVEMBER 20, 2013 BY MICHAEL JOHNSTONE http://theasianpersuasion.org/articles-about-korea/stranger-than-psy-lim-chang-jeong-is-quietly-hilarious Perhaps we’ve all had our share Gangnam Style and Gentleman, but fortunately there’s a new weirdo in town. Say hello, or rather, yeoboseyo to K-Pop’s newest quirky star.  Open The Door 3If Lim Chang-Jeong is attempting to ride on the comic success of Psy’s Gangnam Style and Gentleman video, then he’s doing an amazing job. His new video subtly mocks the quirky dance moves and gaudy costumes that propelled Psy onto the global pop music scene. Though the song has a vaguely familiar sound, it’s catchy in its own right, and funnier than Gentleman ended up being. Video 1 Lim Chang Jeong (임창정) - Open The Door (문을 여시오) (ft. Kim Chang Ryul) (김창렬) MV [Eng Sub] HD (Full ver) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocfN5nLmfDY Lim’s temper tantrum at the start of the video, launched by being ignored for smartphone-obsessed twenty-somethings is a reaction that many can sympathize with; who hasn’t been ignored by someone fiddling with their phone right in front of you? It’s also adorably reminiscent of a certain angry panda that graced the airwaves with his calmly aggressive tactics. Video 2 Never say no to Panda! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X21mJh6j9i4 After his smartphone rage attack, Lim  goes on to right all of the wrongs in Seoul, moving from situation to situation, directing his no-nonsense gaze at those who get on his nerves. And it’s a creepy gaze indeed, somewhere between serial killer and creepy pervert. The kind that let’s you know you’re on thin ice. The video, for K-Pop and Korean TV fans, is also loaded with cameos. Open the Door 1Open the Door (문을 여시오) is a single from Lim’s new mini album A Guy Like Me (나란놈이란) which is more serious than a song like Open the Door lets on. Like Psy, Lim (alternately and more accurately spelled “Im”) has been in the spotlight for a long time. An actor as well as a musician, Lim (임창정) has been on the music scene since 1995 and acting since 1990. .

Our Car ~ The Green Turtle & A Korean Song

Our daughter named our car 'The Green Turtle' because it was green and slow. Well... this sounds like a good song for our car, by our son's favourite group and one of his favourite songs. Check out the meaning of the lyrics in English (scroll down).

After I posted the above paragraph, my wife told me that actually, it was 'The Green Tortoise' and not 'The Green Turtle'. However, I still think it's an appropriate song for our car.

Turtle ~ by Davichi

[Music Bank w/ Eng Lyrics] Davichi - Turtle (2013.04.20)
http://youtu.be/OUu_Vm-0swc

Lyrics ~ Davichi - Turtle

Dear turtle / you won't go far at that speed
On top of that, the road / is far and dangerous
Go after your scars / have closed and healed
I'm serious / then I will let you go
Don't hide don't steal my heart
Lies? your slow, / slow steps
Words that are deep inside my heart
Come to me / Because you have a lot of scars
You have nowhere to go

A sad turtle / You're all alone
Why are you always hiding?
I can't protect you anymore
or love you anymore
It's my heartaching story
It's okay if it's a little late
Just take step by step / slowly

it will be okay
if only a day passes
That's why I tell myself
as if I'm memorizing a charm

Dear turtle, / I see myself when I see you
Tears come and flow / like crazy
A new leaf will bud / Flowers will blossom
The love of my tears / will produce a seed
Words that are deep inside my heart
Come to me / Because you have a lot of scars
You have nowhere to go

A sad turtle / You're all alone
Why are you always hiding?
I can't protect you anymore
or love you anymore
It's my heartaching story
It's okay if it's a little late
Just take step by step / slowly

I will match my steps with yours / which is slower
So that you won't have to cry by yourself anymore
You're always be my / Always be my love
With no place to place its heart / no place to go

It's a sad turtle / (Please don't leave me)
Because you have a lot of scars and alone
Is that why you're hiding alone every day?
I can't protect you anymore / or love you anymore
It's my heartaching story / It's okay if it's a little late
just take step by step / slowly

Perspective ~ A Point Of View

This goes to show that there are at least 2 or more perspectives about anything in life.

I find the news below interesting... that their fans have 2 different and opposing views about the unflattering paparazzi photos.

View 1

"Many SNSD fans have expressed outrage online

that the paparazzi had invaded the group's privacy

... and had taken unflattering photos of them, ..."

View 2

"... but some said it was refreshing to

see their idols at their most natural. "

SNSD paparazzi photos causes stir among fans

SEOUL: Unflattering paparazzi photos of the popular Korean girl group SNSD in a plane cabin have caused a stir amongst their fans, reported Korean media.

The photos, which were recently published in a Hong Kong tabloid, showed SNSD's Jessica stretched out in her seat, with one foot on the back of the seat in front of her.

They also showed Sooyoung asleep with her mouth open while Yoona wolfed down some food.

Many SNSD fans have expressed outrage online that the paparazzi had invaded the group's privacy and had taken unflattering photos of them, but some said it was refreshing to see their idols at their most natural.

SNSD is one of the most successful K-pop girl groups in Korea and routinely plays to sell out crowds in concerts across the region.

Why I Listen to Korean Songs

Currently, Korean Songs are very popular among the masses.

I like Korean Songs because I do NOT understand the Korean Language... and probably never will.

Korean Songs give me the option of listening to my favorite musical instrument... the human voice. Because... for me... if I need to concentrate on something else (for example... while studying or in deep thought)... I cannot listen to English Songs... the lyrics will distract my thinking. The only kind of music I can listen to is instrumental music... and Korean Songs gives me that option because the voice now becomes just like any other musical instrument that have no lyrics.

Of course... the same can be said of other foreign language songs... but right now I have a good supply of Korean Songs... or should I say "Korean Instrumental Music".

Here below is current news on Korean Songs talking top placings in the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA).

Super Junior, SNSD and 2NE1 take top honours at 2011 MAMA

By Han Wei Chou | Posted: 30 November 2011 0146 hrs

SINGAPORE: Popular K-pop acts Super Junior, SNSD and 2NE1 took home top honours at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Tuesday (2011 Nov 29).

2NE1 received the award for Best Vocal Performance Group and the Grand Prize for Song of the Year.

"We are very happy to perform at the MAMA awards and are doubly happy that we have received the award for Song of the Year, thank you for your support," said 2NE1 leader CL.

Super Junior walked away with the Grand Prize for Album of the year, Best Male Group award and the Singapore's Choice award, while their SM Entertainment colleagues SNSD (Girl's Generation) picked up the award for Best Female Group, as well as the Grand Prize for Artist of the Year.

"We have to thank our fans for sharing this with us," said SNSD member Tae Yeon, trophy in hand at a press conference following the 2011 MAMA.

Super Junior echoed her sentiments.

"The fans deserve only the best, so we will always try our best," Super Junior's Si Won declared.

Other notable winners at the 2011 MAMA include Korean girl group A pink, who picked up the award for Best New Female Artist, miss A who won the award for Best Dance Performance – Female Group and boy band BEAST who took home the Best Dance Performance – Male Group award.

Korean singer Kim Hyun Joong was named Best Male Artist while the Best Female Artist award went to Baek Ji Young, who also won the award for Best O.S.T.

Explosive performances galore

Broadcast to about 1.9 billion people in 20 countries worldwide, the 2011 MAMA in Singapore was a star-studded affair jam packed with explosive performances from stars like Snoop Dogg and BEAST, but some performances stood out.

The atmosphere at the Singapore Indoor Stadium was electrifying as Koda Kumi wowed the crowds with a rousing performance of her hits "V.I.P" and "Bling Bling Bling".

2NE1's CL kept the crowds going when she performed without her group mates for the first time at the awards ceremony, belting out the Black Eyed Peas' classic "Where is the Love?" with the band's rappers will.i.am and apl.de.ap.

SNSD upped the ante when they performed their latest song "The Boys" and showed off their flashy dance moves on stage while pyrotechnics went off around them.

But the highlight of the evening was definitely Super Junior's performance of "Sorry Sorry", the song that made them famous, with a small army of backup dancers in black suits and sunglasses.

It was a sight to behold, when Super Junior did their iconic "Sorry Sorry" dance together with what looked like a hundred dancers at their back.
