Height Phobia (Fear of Falling)

A friend of mine posted this. This brings back memories for me.

Image 1 ~ scroll down for a larger view.

This activity has many names. I first knew it as 'Omega Slide' but it is also commonly known as 'Flying Fox' and 'Zipping'. What I experienced in the Army is known as the 'Omega Slide' because we actually hold on to something that resembles the Omega Sign 'Ω'. We did have a safety belts but the some of the instructors were giving us a demo without safety belts.

I had to do this exercise during NS-Army Military Police Training and it was 5-Storeys high and to top that I have this height phobia (fear of falling). I did it 8 times. the 1st 4 times, my legs was all wobbly (because of my phobia) and therefore I couldn't run at the end and stumbled. The remaining last 4, I managed to run at the end and I thought I was cured from my phobia... but years later without ever doing it again, my phobia has returned.

I don't think I will ever get over this Height Phobia but from this experience, maybe I should do this often to keep my Height Phobia at bay because when I did it then and had gotten used to it... I really didn't feel that I had Height Phobia.

Race?

This is a lovely Family Photo.

===.
Family Pix ~ Singapore Catholic Website ~ Race?
Eurasian, Filipino, Indonesian or Malay?

I got this Family Pix from a Singapore Catholic Website. What race would they be? Since it's in Singapore... the logical possibilities would be... Eurasian, Filipino or Indonesian. There is a small chance that this could be a Malay Family, but this is very unlikely because a very high percentage of Malays are Muslims... but I've met a few Malays who are Catholics... so it is possible... but probably unlikely.

The fact that she sings well is now a bonus.

'I always wear shorts!' Carrie Underwood reveals simple trick to protect her modesty in skimpy skirts
By LEAH SIMPSON

She's not the kind of star associated with falling out of nightclubs at 2am. But just in case she does happen to fall victim to an embarrassing tumble elsewhere, Carrie Underwood is well-prepared - she always wears a pair of modest shorts under her skirts.

The 29-year-old country singer appears in a photo shoot for the February issue of Allure magazine and looks incredible in a Burberry Prorsum gown which shows off her legs. Country beauty: Carrie Underwood shows off her gorgeous legs in a Burberry Prorsum gown. Even with the with the revealing tulip hem, Carrie says there’s no chance she’ll ever unsuspectingly flash her underwear when wearing similar ensembles on stage or at events because of her smart undergarments.
More... Moving on up: Carrie Underwood sells the home she bought to celebrate winning American Idol...but fails to make a profit. 'Celebs gone good': Taylor Swift named most charitable celebrity of 2012 after $4M donation. Carrie Underwood lights up American Country Awards in shimmering Flapper dress... but Miranda Lambert hits a low note in unflattering frock

She told the publication: ‘Underneath every skirt, every dress, I’m wearing shorts. So that everyone in the world knows, if I ever fell down, nobody would get a peek at anything.’

One thing she will flash though is the huge rock on her finger given to her by sportsman husband Mike Fisher. Designer darling: The 29-year-old flashes her wedding finger rocks as she dons a Calvin Klein raincoat. It’s unmissable as the blonde appears barefooted in a hotel room, leaning against a chair with a room service tray and Louis Vuitton luggage in the background. She was shot by Alexi Lubomirski while on tour in Oklahoma City.

Talking Nashville and family: She is Allure's February 2013 cover girl. Underwood wore Gucci for her cover shot, and also posed in a Calvin Klein raincoat in a black and white image. She found fame after winning season five of popular talent show American Idol and actress Hayden Panettiere based her portrayal of the main character in the new TV series Nashville on Carrie. However the star insists the show is not exactly an accurate depiction of what life is life trying to make it in her genre of music. She clarified:  ‘I’m not like that at all. It’s juicy, but I hope not everybody thinks that everything goes down like that in Nashville, and we’re evil. To be honest, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with other types of music—and we’re the least drama-rific people.’ Drama-free indeed.

The singer opts to steer clear of any gay rights talk and says her purpose in life is to love others as God would want her to. She said: ‘I’m in favour of acceptance. And I am a Christian person, and I do love the Lord, and I feel no matter who you are, what you believe, how you live your life, it’s not my place to judge. ‘I don’t have that power. I don’t want that power. It’s my place to love and to show God’s love to other people, even if they don’t live a life like I live. So that’s where I’m coming from.’

Based on Carrie: Hayden Panettiere says she is channelling the singer in Nashville.

Now she is a wife, the next step is entering parenthood. And when Carrie does become a mother she wants to run her household a little differently to her own upbringing. She added: ‘My mom had a job, and she also took care of us, and she also took care of Dad—I always saw her pulling triple duty, doing more than I ever felt like she needed to. ‘I made a promise to myself that it would be more of a team effort in my family someday. And because of that, I became more independent. But it was tough figuring out what kind of guy would work with what I did. Because you have your problems with both.’

A lovely story that's helpful for Anger Management.

~~~
A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his disciples smiled 'n asked.
'Why do people shout in anger shout at each other?'
Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout.'
'But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner.' asked the saint
Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the other disciples.
Finally the saint explained, .
'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other to cover that great distance.
What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is either nonexistent or very small...'
The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper 'n they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other 'n that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'
He looked at his disciples and said.
'So when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, Do not say words that distance each other more, Or else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.'
Psalms in Sunday Missal uses Greek Numbering System
Once again, I am thinking of this Psalm Numbering System.
The Sunday Missal in Singapore has been using the Greek Numbering System for Psalms for as long as I can remember (from about 1983 to current date 2013 Jan).
And to this date (2013 Jan) this still holds true except when it is an American Song Book (e.g. Breaking Bread Hymnal) which follows the Hebrew Numbering System for Psalms.
Since I am very much involved in the Responsorial Psalms, I am leaning towards the Greek Numbering System, shown on the right of the Table below. For details you can read an old blog entry I wrote HERE.
*Note that in Singapore Sunday Missals,
the Greek Numbering System is used.
TOKYO: A rare photo showing the mushroom cloud from the Hiroshima atomic bombing in two distinct parts, one above the other, has been discovered in the city, a museum curator said Wednesday.
The black-and-white picture is believed to have been taken about half-an-hour after the bombing on August 6, 1945, around 10 kilometres (six miles) east of the hypocentre.
"The existence of this shot was always known in history books, but this is the first time that the actual print has been discovered," said a curator at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
"A shot showing the mushroom cloud split into two like this is very rare."
The photo was found among articles related to the atomic bombing now owned by Honkawa Elementary School in Hiroshima city, she said.
The best-known pictures of the aftermath of the bombing were taken from the air by the US military.
An American B-29 bomber named Enola Gay dropped the atomic bomb nicknamed "Little Boy", turning the western Japanese city into a nuclear inferno and killing an estimated 140,000 in the final chapter of World War II.
Three days later another atomic bomb -- "Fat Man" -- was dropped on the city of Nagasaki, claiming the lives of another 70,000.
Who Do We Need to Love? ~ by PGA
We do not need... the whole world to love us... we just need...
the love of those who... WERE... chosen to love us, and
the love of those who... HAVE... chosen to love us.
I do not need... to love the whole world... I just need...
to love those who... HAVE BEEN... chosen for me to love, and
to love those who... I... HAVE... chosen for me to love.
Only after then... we NEED to love...
the whole world... and God above.
For we need the time... on Earth to learn,
as we make our way... to God in heaven
To Create the Fraction Symbol
Method 1: Use an Equation Field to Create the Fraction:
This method creates a fraction with a horizontal line between the numerator and the denominator.
  1. Place the insertion point where you want the fraction to appear.
  2. Press CTRL+F9 to insert field braces.
  3. Between the field braces, type the following
    EQ \F(a,b)
    where a and b are the numerator and denominator of the fraction.
    For example, if you want to create the fraction 1/8, the field would look like this
    { EQ \F(1,8)}
  4. With the insertion point in the field, press SHIFT+F9.
