Happiness

I like today's Gospel. I helps me understand life, a little better.

Here's what I got from it:

01 ~ Humility and the need to pray and the importance of prayer. We have to humble ourselves before God and recognize that he is our Creator to get to the Kingdom of Heaven.

02 ~ The "little children" or "little child" could refer to 1) any child, or 2) anyone else "who makes himself as little".

03 ~
I've learnt that...
There's greater happiness in...
finding the little that was lost...
in comparison with...
the much that we still have.

04 ~ God's greatest happiness is finding the little child that was lost.

Daily Word Of God

Tuesday, 9th August 2011
19th Week in Ordinary Time
Matthew 18:1-5, 10 12-14

The disciples came to Jesus and said, 'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?' So he called a little child to him whom he set among them. Then he said, 'In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven. And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.

'Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me. See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.

'Tell me. Suppose a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays; will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the stray? In truth I tell you, if he finds it, it gives him more joy than do the ninety-nine that did not stray at all. Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.'

TODAY'S POINTERS ON GOD'S WORD

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

A child is not only innocent and pure, but also has no ego; is totally reliant on an adult and thinks he cannot do anything by himself  .

Jesus is essentially telling us that we have to be humble like a child. We must rely on God, Our Lord and that we need Him at all times in our lives. We must admit that we have a lot of human limitations.

Often, we have to go through a lot of painful and humbling experiences to develop a deep and strong faith in God.  This is because when we are sufferings we have no one to turn to except God for strength and hope.  How true is this of your life's experiences?.
