Maroon 5 - Better That We Break (Lyrics!!)
In this melancholy Maroon 5 song from 2008's 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long,' frontman Adam Levine sings over a piano-driven beat about the aftermath of a painful and unwanted break up. Featuring slower, simplistic music, Levine's emotional vocals take flight as he sings: "I'm not fine, I'm in pain / It's harder everyday / Maybe we're better off this way? / It's better that we break." This one makes our best break up songs because it takes us on the personal journey of a person trying to leave behind someone they once loved.

02
Chris Brown-Say Goodbye with Lyrics
This 2006 break up song from Chris Brown is sad in a different way; the pop hitmaker sings from a first person perspective as he tries to find the right words to end it with his girl. 'Say Goodbye,' which appears on Brown's self-titled debut album, incorporates piano and percussion as Brown passionately sings over the classic R&B beat: "There's never a right time to say goodbye / But I gotta make the first move / 'Cause if I don't you gonna start hating me / Cause I really don't feel the way I once felt about you."

03
Irreplaceable ~ Beyonce
Leave it to Beyonce to find the bright side of breaking up. In this 2006 song from her album 'B'Day,' the power diva sings over a light-hearted pop beat about a cheating boyfriend, and how she is kicking his sorry a— out! The 'Single Ladies' songstress directs her loser ex "to the left, to the left" as she lets him know what's really on her mind: "Baby I won't shed a tear for you, I won't lose a wink of sleep / 'Cause the truth of the matter is replacing you is so easy." You go, girl! Tell him how it really is!

04
Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone with Lyrics
In 2004, Kelly Clarkson served up one of the best breakup songs of all time with 'Since U Been Gone.' The 'American Idol' winner puts an ex on blast on this upbeat, catchy track, which is off of Clarkson's second studio album, 'Breakaway.' Clarkson shows off her strong pipes as she sings about the positive side of breaking up: "Since you been gone / I can breathe for the first time / I'm so moving on / Yeah, yeah / Thanks to you / Now I get / What I want."

Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River
In 2004, Justin Timberlake unleashed this hard-hearted song about a cheating ex. This one is personal for JT, who co-wrote 'Cry Me a River' about his former girlfriend Britney Spears. Timberlake sings in a high register throughout the Grammy-winning song, with a pain in his tone that only a scorned lover could possess. "You told me you loved me / Why did you leave me, all alone," he asks his ex, as she begs for forgiveness. However, getting back together is not an option, as he tells her to "cry [him] a river."

06
No Doubt - Don't Speak
Sometimes the best breakup songs steam from personal experiences. 'Don't Speak' is presumed to be about Gwen Stefani and bassist Tony Kanal's seven-year relationship, penned by the No Doubt songstress member and brother Eric Stefani. The pleading "I don't want to really know what you're thinking" lyrics touched listeners who once were in dwindling relationships, taking the Grammy-nominated song to the top of the charts in 1996, and to the top of our best break up songs list!

07
Brenda Lee - All Alone Am I (Original Stereo)
All alone am I ever since your goodbye. All alone with just a beat of my heart. People all around but I don't hear a sound. Just the lonely beating of my heart. No use in holding other hands. For I'd be holding only emptiness.

08
Jim Reeves - Am I Losing You
Am I losing you? Are my fears coming true? How I wish I knew. Is your love really true? Is there somebody new? Tell me what to do. Am I too blind to see, what's then happening to me... every road has a bend... will I be sweetheart or friend? Will the sweet things you do... be for somebody new.

Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song ~ BJ Thomas
It's lonely out tonight and the feeling just got right for a brand new love song "Somebody done somebody wrong song". Hey, won't you play another somebody done somebody wrong song and make me feel at home while I miss my baby. So please play for me a sad melody, so sad that it makes everybody cry... a real hurting song about a love that's gone wrong cause I don't want to cry all alone.

A World Without Love ~ The Beatles (formerly unreleased)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXrrVnwsg9U
This song was a big hit for Peter & Gordon. Peter was the older brother of Jane Asher, Paul McCartney's girlfriend for much of the 1960s. This song was written by Paul McCartney for Peter & Gordon to sing. The Beatles later did their own version of it. The Lyrics are, "Please lock me away, and don't allow the day here inside, where I hide with my loneliness. I don't care what they say, I won't stay in a world without love. Birds sing out of tune, and rain clouds hide the moon. I'm OK... here I'll stay... with my loneliness. So I'll wait, and in a while... I will see my true love smile... love may come, I know not when... when love does, I'll know... so baby until then... please lock me away..."
