~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This prayer takes about one minute! Pray it sincerely, and then those you send it to, will pray for you!
Prayer by Bishop T.D. Jakes
"When you are DOWN to nothing ..God is UP to something"
Father, in the Name of Jesus, bless me even while I'm
reading this prayer and bless the one that sent this to me
in a special way. Open supernatural doors in our lives
today. Save and set free! Give us a double portion of your
Spirit as we take back everything that the Devil has stolen:
Emotional Health, Physical Health, Finances,
Relationships, Children, Jobs, Homes, Marriages.
I cancel every plot, plan and scheme the enemy has devised against us in the MATCHLESS NAME OF JESUS.
And I declare:
NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US WILL PROSPER.
I speak LIFE into every dead situation. And, I thank you that nothing is over until YOU say it's over! I speak prophetically into our lives and to our situations:
Our households are blessed;
Our health is blessed;
Our marriages are blessed;
Our finances are blessed;
Our businesses are blessed,
Our jobs are blessed;
Our children are blessed;
Our grandchildren are blessed;
Our parents are blessed;
Our siblings are blessed;
Our ministries are blessed;
and, Our decisions are blessed.
Husbands are on the way; Wives are on the way;
Mortgages are paid and debts cancelled;
Our hearts' desires are on the way; according to
YOUR perfect will and plan for our lives.
IN JESUS NAME! AMEN!
Pray this prayer, then send it to EVERYBODY YOU KNOW
Within hours countless people will have prayed for you, and you will have caused a multitude of people to pray to God for each other.
--- Please pass this prayer on!!
The Water Bottle & The Doll
I received this via email today. It’s not the first time; I’ve been receiving this story quite often. The sender wrote, “No matter how many times I read this - it hits me!!!”
````````````````````
Story Title:
The Water Bottle & The Doll
Isaiah 65:24 ~ Before they call, I will answer.
This beautiful story was written by a doctor who worked in Central Africa
One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do, she died, leaving us with a tiny, premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive; as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator). We also had no special feeding facilities..
Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool that the baby would be wrapped in. Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates)..
'And it is our last hot water bottle!' she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no good crying over spilled milk, so in Central Africa it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways.
'All right,' I said, 'put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts. Your job is to keep the baby warm.'
The following noon, as I did most days, I went to have prayers with any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died.
During prayer time, one ten-year-old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. 'Please, God' she prayed, 'Send us a hot water bottle today. It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby will be dead, so please send it this afternoon.'
While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, 'And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll know You really love her?'
As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say 'Amen'? I just did not believe that God could do this. Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything; the Bible says so. But there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from the homeland. I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever, received a parcel from home.
Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator!
Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door.. By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there on the porch was a large 22-pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly... Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box.
From the top, I lifted out brightly-colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored. Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend.
Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the..... could it really be?
I grasped it and pulled it out. Yes, a brand new, rubber hot water bottle. I cried. I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could.
Ruth was in the front row of the children. She rushed forward, crying out, 'If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly, too!
'Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully- dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted! Looking up at me, she asked, 'Can I go over with you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her?'
'Of course,' I replied!
That parcel had been on the way for five whole months, packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five months before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it 'that afternoon'.
'Before they call, I will answer.' (Isaiah 65:24)
{The End of Story}

This normally comes after each chained-email. This is the part I do not forward. If I did forward the story; this part would have been deleted.
````````````````````
When you receive this, say the prayer. That's all you have to do. No strings attached. Just send it on to whomever you want - but do send it on.
Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost, but a lot of rewards. Let's continue praying for one another. This awesome prayer takes less than a minute.
Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this. I ask You to minister to their spirit. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence to work through them. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, guidance, and strength. Where there is fear, reveal Your love and release to them Your courage. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
P.S.
Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend will bless you both. Passing this on to one not considered a friend is something Christ would do.
URHoly = You Are Holy
I will always remember Monday, 2009 Jun 22, 10:00pm-03:10am. Well at least, I'm going to try to.
Came home at 10:00pm, yesterday (Monday, June 22, 2009). Had a request to work on it. Since the company was good... I thought... "why not?" We finished at 03:10am this morning. I'm so tired now... but it was fun. Probably fell asleep with a smile on my face.
This arrangement may not be much, but it means a lot to just 2 persons. 5 hours is a long time to spend with just one other person... so this blog is to commemorate the moment.
Prayer For Priests
Sunday, 21 Jun 2009 --- I heard the priest mentioned this quote during sermon today, and I found this same quote on the internet.
Holy Priests make holy people,
but a priest who is not holy
is not only useless to himself,
but a scandal to the whole world
~ Pope Pius X
Here's another variation of the same quote.
Holy priest makes a holy people,
and a priest who is not holy
is not only useless,
he is harmful to the world
~ Pope Pius X
I also received this 'Prayer For Priests' card today.
Prayer For Priests
(Year for Priests ~ 19 Jun 2009 – 19 Jun 2010)
Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd of our souls, we thank You for instituting the Priesthood. Bless all our priests as they minister to us. We are grateful for the many gifts You have given them.
Our priests draw us together in worship, visit us in our homes, comfort us in sickness and show us compassion. Our priests bless our marriage, baptize our children, confirm us in our calling, and support us in bereavement.
They also help us to grow in faith, encourage us to take the initiative, and most of all, they bring Your Presence among us.
We ask You to bless our priests and to guide them in their calling. May they imitate You in their service and always respond with generosity and joyful heart. Amen.
We ask You to bless our priests and to guide them in their calling. May they imitate You in their service and always respond with generosity and joyful heart. Amen.
Introduction:
Even to write his name as Father Eugene Hamilton awes me because of its improbability. This is a young man whose formal seminary training was minimal, whose struggle for life meant literally fighting for breath and whose hope for ordination to the priesthood seemed a mere fantasy. Yet he was ordained, never to “function” as a priest, but to be a priest forever, “after the Order of Melchisedeck,” within moments of his death. How could this be? This is the question Father Benedict is really addressing in this work.
In my own judgement, the answer is twofold, both components ultimately enfolded, of course, in the mystery of Divine Providence itself. The first lies in the life, the vision, the commitment, and the perseverance of both Eugene Hamilton and his family. Father Benedict elucidates the respective roles of son and parents most movingly.
The second and critical component that made the ordination possible was the extraordinary generosity of our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, and the Pope’s personal love of the priesthood. As a philosopher, he believes thoroughly in the ontological nature of the priesthood, as Pastores Dabo Vobis makes clear. A man is not merely invited to put on a set of vestments or authorized to serve in a particular capacity, with the new title of “Father.” He becomes a priest. A spiritually ontological change takes place in his very being, so that while he looks and walks and talks as before, now he is a priest. Hence, our Holy Father did not seem concerned that Eugene would never function as a priest, except in his very being. It was enough, in other words, that he be a priest.
It was His Eminence, Pio Cardinal Laghi, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education (of Seminaries and other Institutes of Studies), whose thoughtful approval of the request presented to him even preceded his seeking the concurrence of our Holy Father. The Church in New York will be long in his debt for this goodness.
I, personally, thank Father Benedict for a story of inspiration in an all-too-cynical world.
John Cardinal O’Connor, Archbishop of New York
Preface:
This book fulfills a promise made to an exceptionally fine young man who would be gone from this world in less than six hours. He himself had written part of a book about his own calling to the priesthood and his struggle to answer it in the face of terminal cancer. He hoped to be a priest long enough to preach to others, bearing witness to the graces that he had received, I might add, with great generosity and humility. I vividly recall my last words to him, spoken during a phone call from California, a hurried conversation while he was gasping for breath and had to return to his oxygen mask — “Gene, you will preach your sermon . . . I will see to it.”
This book is a labor of love, a fulfillment of a promise made in the most solemn circumstances imaginable — the beginnings of the hour of death. In the following six hours on January 24, 1997, almost incredible things were to happen — much more for the benefit of others than for Gene himself. But these events were to fulfill the hopes of a short, and in many ways exceptional, life.
My first real conversation with Eugene Hamilton stands out in my mind very clearly. I had heard of this student who was so ill with cancer and who was so brave about it all. Hearing of Gene’s devotion to Terence Cardinal Cooke (archbishop of New York from 1965 until he died in 1983; made a cardinal in 1969), I had stopped by to pray with him at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York. As postulator of the cause for sainthood of Cardinal Cooke, it seemed something of a responsibility for me to pray with this earnest young devotee.
Gene was worn out that day and very much feeling the effects of recent chemotherapy. Our conversation was brief, with most of the time spent praying with Gene and his mother. I recall leaving the hospital deeply impressed by the faith and trust of this tragically sick young seminarian.
Our first real conversation took place later, when I came to teach a class at St. Joseph’s Seminary of the New York Archdiocese. He found me in the front corridor and wanted to talk and pray. Gene shared his catastrophic medical condition with me in the most matter-of-fact and understated way, but explained he had chosen to keep his terminal condition a secret from all except a select group. We spoke of Cardinal Cooke, for whom he had such great admiration, and also of his acceptance of God’s will — whatever that was to be. Gene mentioned that he was much inspired by Cardinal Cooke’s own patience and acceptance of God’s will over a period of nine years, also in the face of terminal cancer.
Finally, Gene spoke very gently of his belief that he was going to be a priest, adding that this was very problematic unless he was cured. We prayed to Our Lord and Our Lady, asking the intercession of Cardinal Cooke, at the end of our meeting. It struck me then that these prayers were offered without any human expectation of fulfillment, only complete reliance on God and His mysterious providence. The motto of Cardinal Cooke — “Thy Will Be Done” — was in the minds of both of us.
Eugene probably did not realize how deeply moved I was by this half-hour spent together. The color of death was upon him. His hair was short and very thin because of chemotherapy. His eyes had lost the sparkle that one sees in his college photographs. Instead, there was a deep and arresting intensity in those dark eyes, an intensity that one sometimes observes in those who are facing the mystery of terminal illness squarely, and unlike most of the rest of humanity, have looked beyond what human sight can see.
After our conversation, I paused at the threshold of the majestic seminary chapel. I recall saying to myself, perhaps half-audibly, “Different . . . this young man is very different.” I need to mention here that there are many aspects of life about which I know little or nothing. Current styles, cars, TV, computers, even athletics are blanks to me. But I have studied people for almost four decades, and thus I feel some justification in saying that this dying young man was different. He had a center of gravity, a simplicity of direction, a certitude of purpose, a faith that was not intimidated by the clear approach of death. The vast majority of people — even religious people — could not display a certitude like this, or at least to this degree.
As I walked away from the chapel I came quietly to two conclusions: namely, that God would be with Eugene, and that all would be well. Perhaps there would be a miraculous cure. More than one had been reported, and even announced, by medical doctors in the cause of Cardinal Cooke.
Perhaps. . . . He was sure he was going to be a priest, but he was only taking his first theology class and missing most of his other classes now because of illness. He was so young and so far from completing the required four years of theology that there was no hope of ordination without some kind of intervention of God’s providence.
In the midst of these thoughts, the word kept running through my mind — different, different, different. It came to me, then, that the word “different” is the root meaning of the word “holy.” Sanctus in Latin, Hagios in Greek, Kodesh in Hebrew — they all mean that God is different — transcendently beyond our thoughts and expectations, mysteriously the plenitude of being: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9).
In the coming months many people would come to see that this young man was “different.” I don’t mean simply an excellent student, an engaging personality, an extraordinarily kind and caring person, a deeply devout Christian, and a dedicated candidate for the priesthood in these shabby and unbelieving times. He was in fact all of these things. But these qualities were not enough to explain my sense of his being different that day outside St. Joseph’s Chapel. He was different because the “hand of the Lord was upon him” and he was responding from the very depths of his being.
This little book is about the different, the mysterious, the sacred, about the presence and action of God as He accomplishes His unsearchable will in the ordinary events of life. It is about the sacramental and the sacred, the eternal priesthood of Christ, and how these transcendent realities unfold before human eyes in a world of the familiar, of high school, basketball, proms, exams, and biopsies. When the eternal and the temporal come together, the spirit and the flesh, the human and divine, one finds the sacramental. That’s what sacraments are, divine gifts operating in the web of time and matter. This is a story of the sacraments — all seven — but it is especially a glimpse at the priesthood.
If you have limited your view of life to what can be weighed and measured in some way, don’t read another word of this book. If you are skeptical about God’s presence and operation in the lives of ordinary people, if you are a victim of the purely rationalistic view of life (blind as that is), and can only accept what the limited human mind can comprehend, get rid of this book. It will only bore or annoy you. If baptism is for you just a rite of initiation, the Eucharist a shared sacred meal, and the priesthood only a function, don’t read any further, because this is an account of a young man who believed he was called to be a priest forever. If you are skeptical about the sacramental, you will see his ordination as a mistake, and estimate that he was a useless clergyman for less than three hours. But if you are willing to bow your neck before the mystery of God, if you see all of life as a sacramental encounter between Divinity and humanity, between Creator and creature, between Christ and the members of His Mystical Body, then you will be enriched by the message of this book, and you will be deeply moved by the fact that Eugene Hamilton in the hour of death became a priest forever.
Priest forever: the life of Father Eugene Hamilton
by Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, C.F.R.
(Our Sunday Visitor Publishing, 1998), 206 pp., $14.95.
The Book Review by Fr. Raymond J. de Souza:
Publishers often flog a book as a "must-read". Very few of them are. This book is. Fr. Groeschel's latest book must be given to every seminarian and every young man who may have a priestly vocation. Others will benefit from it too, but this book will unfailingly a greater love for the priesthood. It tells the story of a remarkable young man, Eugene Hamilton, whose short life was a great witness to his love for the sublime gift of the priesthood.
Fr. Hamilton, hours away from death, was ordained into the same priesthood of Cardinals Cooke and Bernardin, which he will share with them for all eternity. The Church shows what she believes by what she does. In ordaining a man who would never celebrate Mass, administer the sacraments, or even lead a prayer, the Church reaffirmed what she believes about the priesthood. A priest becomes something different, even if, as in Fr. Hamilton's case, he never does anything different. As with baptism and confirmation, holy orders leaves an indelible mark on the soul, changing it forever. And so just as the Church will baptize and confirm a dying person, so too there is value--infinite value--in ordaining a man who will be a priest in this life no longer than Christ hung upon the cross.
Fr. Groeschel has done a great service in making his story known, providing seminarians and others with a great model of serene perseverance in preparation for the priesthood. The fact that Fr. Hamilton's classmates are still in the seminary adds to the reality of what might seem an unreal story.
In an addendum, Fr. Groeschel explains the Church's understanding of the priesthood, namely, that it is primarily about being something different, and only then does the priest do something different. The addendum strikes a discordant note, however, as Fr. Groeschel attacks by name those who have put forth a purely functional understanding of the priesthood. It is a shame that a fine story is somewhat ruined by a churlish attack, demonstrating once again that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. Fr. Hamilton himself never stooped to involve himself in ecclesiastical disputes, but simply allowed the light of faith and his vocation to shine forth. That witness, offered even to the point of death, is far more powerful than sniping at dissenting voices.
Fr. Groeschel should have held his fire. The faith of the Church comes alive not in polemics but in God's greatest work, the lives of His saints. Fr. Hamilton's life was a great work of God, showing forth the glory of God's greatest work, the priestly work of Jesus Christ.
Raymond de Souza, a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Kingston, is currently studying in Rome.
The Choice ~ By Max Lucado
"The Choice" is an excerpt from Max Lucado's book "Grace For The Moment".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Choice ~ By Max Lucado
It's quiet. It's early. My coffee is hot. The sky is still black. The world is still asleep. The day is coming. In a few moments the day will arrive. It will roar down the track with the rising of the sun. The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the noise of the day. The calm of the solitude will be replaced by the pounding pace of the human race. The refuge of the early morning will be invaded by decisions to be made and deadlines to be met.
For the next twelve hours I will be exposed to the day's demands. It is now that I must make a choice. Because of Calvary, I'm free to choose. And so I choose.
I CHOOSE LOVE.
No occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness.
I choose love. Today I will love God and what God loves.
I CHOOSE JOY.
I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance. I will
refuse the temptation to be cynical...the tool of the lazy
thinker. I will refuse to see people as anything less than human
beings, created by God. I will refuse to see any problem as
anything less than an opportunity to see God.
I CHOOSE PEACE.
I will live forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.
I CHOOSE PATIENCE.
I will overlook the inconveniences of the world. Rather than
complaining that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a
moment to pray. Instead of clinching my fist at new assignments,
I will face them with joy and courage.
I CHOOSE KINDNESS.
I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the
rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is
how God has treated me.
I CHOOSE GOODNESS.
I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one. I will
see the good in others when it is hard to find. I will confess
before I will accuse. I choose goodness.
I CHOOSE FAITHFULNESS.
Today I will keep my promises. My debtors will not regret their
trust. My associates will not question my word. My wife (husband) will not
question my love. And my children will never fear that their
father (mother) will not come home.
I CHOOSE GENTLENESS.
Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle. If I raise my
voice, may it be only in praise. If I clench my fist, may it be
only in prayer. If I make a demand, may it be only of myself.
I CHOOSE SELF-CONTROL.
I am a spiritual being. After this body is dead, my spirit will
soar. I refuse to let what will rot rule the eternal. I choose
self-control.
LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS,
FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, & SELF-CONTROL.
To these I commit my day.
If I succeed, I will give thanks.
If I fail, I will seek God's face.
And then when this day is done,
I will place my head on my
pillow and rest.

Rhetoric
.
. Rhetoric A play with words... Rhetoric is the art of using language as a means to persuade. Along with grammar and logic or dialectic, rhetoric is one of the three ancient arts of discourse. From ancient Greece to the late 19th Century, it was a central part of Western education, filling the need to train public speakers and writers to move audiences to action with arguments. The very act of defining has itself been a central part of rhetoric, appearing among Aristotle's Topics. The word is derived from the Greek’s "oratorical", "public speaker", related to, "that which is said or spoken, word, saying", and ultimately derived from the verb, "to speak, say". In its broadest sense, rhetoric concerns human discourse. ~ more can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetoric |

Blog ~ I Teared Not Because I Am Sad
http://itearednotbecauseiamsad.blogspot.com/
I like the quote from this blogger:
"fake till you make it or else die trying"
I'm paraphrazing it to my liking:
"Fake it till you make it --- or at least die trying"
He seem to have a positive attitude to life. Has a lot of self motivation and able to pick himself up, dust of the dirt & plan the next strategy to achive his now modified goal. Definitely and enjoyable and uplifting read. Thanks for sharing your life.

Color Personality Traits & Our Ability To Love Others
~ PGA, 2009 Jun 08, Monday
I came across a site that sells thick colored-threads to make ‘Braided Friendship Bracelets’ sometimes also known as ‘Braided Friendship Bands’. It had a table of colors for would-be-buyers to choose from, that best describes the personality trait of the user. It encourages these would-be-buyers to “…make this special gift to let them know how you feel by choosing your colors from the list below.”
I have nothing against this activity, but we need to keep in mind that in this world, there are opposing views. For every ‘Positive Trait’ each color represent, there will always be a ‘Negative Trait’ at the opposite extreme as shown in the image below.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting that we should stop this activity. In fact, I believe that this activity has more positive than negative benefits. It’s just that I just wanted to illustrate that there is nothing in this world that is absolute. I think that the only thing that’s absolute in this world is our ability to love others. Ω

Learn, Respect & Seek

Lessons from Barack Obama:
• To learn from each other
• To respect one another
• To seek common ground
There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other; to learn from each other; to respect one another; and to seek common ground. As the Holy Quran tells us, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth” ~ Barack Hussein Obama (American President), Cairo Speech 2009 Jun 03, Wednesday

I love the Fish-Head Curry there.
The guy that served us had great PR. His name is Subhaolh (pronounced 'Suboh'). He said, "no like, no pay". He also said "no msg" & "no coconut" in the curry but he would not disclose what they use instead saying only "it's a secret".
{Note: as of 2010Apr22, Subhaolh does not work there anymore and has chosen to go back to India. But the owner, Mr Ravi, is still there, he's a friendly guy so go ahead and enjoy yourselves...}
We liked the Fish-Head Curry so much that it was difficult to avoid paying even if we wanted to. The shop was started in 2006. Below is an article "Curry Garden ~ by Thng Lay Teen" from the Straits Times (Sun, Jul 01, 2007).

TAKE your pick of masala chicken briyani or fish head curry and you can't go wrong.
As Mr Udaya Kumar, 36 (in 2007), owner of the one-year-old Curry Garden, proudly assures me, no MSG or coconut milk is used in the food, which is prepared by two chefs from India.
Mr Kumar, a senior IT analyst , leaves the day-to-day running of the restaurant to his brother, Ravi, 30. Both are from Udupi, a town 300km from Bangalore in south India which is well known for its food.
The first time I ate the chicken briyani, it tasted pretty good but was also disappointingly cold. At 1.30pm on a Saturday afternoon, it should have been reasonably warm.
I later learnt that the warmer in the kitchen had broken down that day.
On my second visit the following week at about the same time, the briyani was nice and warm.
At $4 for the briyani set, you get one whole chicken thigh, a choice of vegetables like spinach or cauliflower and curry gravy to go with the rice. If you opt for white rice, the set costs $3.50.
The masala chicken is so tender that it falls off the bone because only the thigh and wings of fresh spring chickens are used.
The curry uses a recipe which Mr Kumar took one year to perfect. It includes seven different spices including - he reluctantly discloses - mustard seeds.
These seeds are usually used only for fish head curry, but he uses them together with other ingredients to make the chicken curry taste different, and it works.
The gravy is thickened with dried nuts and fruit. The chicken itself is marinated with a puree of dried fruit and almonds.
In a month's time, the eatery will have dum briyani ($5 a pot) where the chicken will be cooked together with the rice so that the curry flavours are well absorbed.
You would also do well to try the fish head curry ($16), one of Curry Garden's signature dishes. It comes with a free flow of papadum (Indian crackers). The curry mix is partially cooked the evening before, allowing the flavours to develop, then more spices are added and the fish is cooked only after an order is placed. The fish is done just right and the meat melts in the mouth.

Pen ~ Pilot ~ Better Retractable BP-145-F

Model: Better Retractable BP-145-F
My favorite pen, the Pilot (Better Retractable BP-145-F). Why I like it? Well it's cheap & the ink flow is just right. It does NOT over-flow which is the reason for most "ink-clots" when you write & the ink will ALWAYS flow the moment it touches the paper --- everytime --- even down to the very last drop of ink.

Care Tips
http://www.pilotpen.com.sg/caretips.html
• Removing Stubborn Ink Stains
►1 ~ As soon as the ink stain is discovered, use a tissue paper to blot off as much ink from the stained area as possible.
►2 ~ Next, place the stained area under running water to rinse off as much ink as possible. Try to contain the stained area when going through this process.
►3 ~ Finally, apply any stain removers available from the supermarkets to remove the remaining stain.
• Ink Leakage Onboard An Airplane
As with all liquid ink pens, when onboard a plane, be sure to remove the pen cap with the writing tip pointing upwards. This will avoid any leakage that could occur due to cabin pressure.
