Auguries of Innocence
Auguries of Innocence is a poem from one of William Blake's notebooks now known as The Pickering Manuscript. It is assumed to have been written in 1803, but was not published until 1863 in the companion volume to Alexander Gilchrist's biography of William Blake. The poem contains a series of paradoxes which speak of innocence juxtaposed with evil and corruption. The poem is 132 lines and has been published with and without breaks that divide the poem into stanzas. An augury is a sign or omen.
The Poem
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
A robin redbreast in a cage
Puts all heaven in a rage.
A dove-house fill'd with doves and pigeons
Shudders hell thro' all its regions.
A dog starv'd at his master's gate
Predicts the ruin of the state.
A horse misused upon the road
Calls to heaven for human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted hare
A fibre from the brain does tear.
A skylark wounded in the wing,
A cherubim does cease to sing.
The game-cock clipt and arm'd for fight
Does the rising sun affright.
Every wolf's and lion's howl
Raises from hell a human soul.
The wild deer, wand'ring here and there,
Keeps the human soul from care.
The lamb misus'd breeds public strife,
And yet forgives the butcher's knife.
The bat that flits at close of eve
Has left the brain that won't believe.
The owl that calls upon the night
Speaks the unbeliever's fright.
He who shall hurt the little wren
Shall never be belov'd by men.
He who the ox to wrath has mov'd
Shall never be by woman lov'd.
The wanton boy that kills the fly
Shall feel the spider's enmity.
He who torments the chafer's sprite
Weaves a bower in endless night.
The caterpillar on the leaf
Repeats to thee thy mother's grief.
Kill not the moth nor butterfly,
For the last judgement draweth nigh.
He who shall train the horse to war
Shall never pass the polar bar.
The beggar's dog and widow's cat,
Feed them and thou wilt grow fat.
The gnat that sings his summer's song
Poison gets from slander's tongue.
The poison of the snake and newt
Is the sweat of envy's foot.
The poison of the honey bee
Is the artist's jealousy.
The prince's robes and beggar's rags
Are toadstools on the miser's bags.
A truth that's told with bad intent
Beats all the lies you can invent.
It is right it should be so;
Man was made for joy and woe;
And when this we rightly know,
Thro' the world we safely go.
Joy and woe are woven fine,
A clothing for the soul divine.
Under every grief and pine
Runs a joy with silken twine.
The babe is more than swaddling bands;
Every farmer understands.
Every tear from every eye
Becomes a babe in eternity;
This is caught by females bright,
And return'd to its own delight.
The bleat, the bark, bellow, and roar,
Are waves that beat on heaven's shore.
The babe that weeps the rod beneath
Writes revenge in realms of death.
The beggar's rags, fluttering in air,
Does to rags the heavens tear.
The soldier, arm'd with sword and gun,
Palsied strikes the summer's sun.
The poor man's farthing is worth more
Than all the gold on Afric's shore.
One mite wrung from the lab'rer's hands
Shall buy and sell the miser's lands;
Or, if protected from on high,
Does that whole nation sell and buy.
He who mocks the infant's faith
Shall be mock'd in age and death.
He who shall teach the child to doubt
The rotting grave shall ne'er get out.
He who respects the infant's faith
Triumphs over hell and death.
The child's toys and the old man's reasons
Are the fruits of the two seasons.
The questioner, who sits so sly,
Shall never know how to reply.
He who replies to words of doubt
Doth put the light of knowledge out.
The strongest poison ever known
Came from Caesar's laurel crown.
Nought can deform the human race
Like to the armour's iron brace.
When gold and gems adorn the plow,
To peaceful arts shall envy bow.
A riddle, or the cricket's cry,
Is to doubt a fit reply.
The emmet's inch and eagle's mile
Make lame philosophy to smile.
He who doubts from what he sees
Will ne'er believe, do what you please.
If the sun and moon should doubt,
They'd immediately go out.
To be in a passion you good may do,
But no good if a passion is in you.
The whore and gambler, by the state
Licensed, build that nation's fate.
The harlot's cry from street to street
Shall weave old England's winding-sheet.
The winner's shout, the loser's curse,
Dance before dead England's hearse.
Every night and every morn
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
We are led to believe a lie
When we see not thro' the eye,
Which was born in a night to perish in a night,
When the soul slept in beams of light.
God appears, and God is light,
To those poor souls who dwell in night;
But does a human form display
To those who dwell in realms of day.

Paraphrased from one of Peggy's Prayers
(DAILY NOURISHMENTS ~ Tuesday, 31 Aug 2010,
Tuesday of the Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time)
Dear God... we pray for those who are sick... that they may receive Your healing touch through the hands of the anointed medical servants that You have have sent. Through their hands... may it bring good news. May Your eyes watch over them that they may continue to receive Your goodness. Dear Lord... protect them from harm. May Your eyes be upon them, watch and hold them in Your safe hands to protect them. Bring knowledge to their trusted medical servants so that they may discover other healing ways other than surgery. Grant them Calmness of heart and mind... and ease from all fear and worries.
Amen.

NO FLOUR, NO OIL, NO WHITE SUGAR
~ Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites
Original Source
You won't believe it!!!!!!
NO FLOUR, NO OIL, NO WHITE SUGAR
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups canned* chickpeas, well-rinsed and patted dry with a paper towel
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons (165 grams) natural peanut butter (can use PB2 from gym to make healthier, check your labels )
1/4 cup (80 grams) honey (agave would be amazing too!)
1 teaspoon baking powder**
a pinch of salt if your peanut butter doesn’t have salt in it
1/2 cup (90 grams) chocolate chips
* My can was a 400 gram can, 240 grams without the water, and I used all but a few tablespoons
** If you need grain-free baking powder, you can use 1 part cream of tartar + 1 part baking soda + 2 parts arrowroot.
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F / 175°C.
Combine all the ingredients, except for the chocolate chips, in a food processor and process until very smooth. Make sure to scrape the sides and the top to get the little chunks of chickpeas and process again until they’re combined.
Put in the chocolate chips and stir it if you can, or pulse it once or twice. The mixture will be very thick and sticky.
With wet hands, form into 1 1/2″ balls. Place onto a piece of parchment paper. If you want them to look more like normal cookies, press down slightly on the balls. They don’t do much rising. Bake for about 10 minutes.
Yields about fourteen 1 1/2″ cookie dough balls.

The Seat Belt Traffic Rules in Singapore
The seat belt traffic rules in Singapore was implemented since 1993. All vehicles registered on or after 1st Jan 1993, must have rear seat belts. Traffic Police of Singapore has been carry out frequent enforcing measure and educating the public on how importance that seat belts can save the lives, especially on the rear seat belts.
All passengers, including the children sitting at the rear of the car will need to have their seat belt on. In Singapore, any children below the age of 8 will need to be seated in a child safety seat The reason for enforcing children below the age of 8 to sit inside the child safety seat is due to their height may not be able to use the adult seat belt safely, hence they are best protected when sitting inside the child safety seat. Adults are encourage to sit next to the child and tell stories or play games with them, in order to get their attention occupied and to remain in the safety seat.
Pregnant women are not exempted from the seat belt rules too. It may be even safer for a pregnant woman to be belted up as it protects the foetus. However, if one is able to submit a medical certification to traffic police for consideration, to prove that they are not suitable to have the seat belt on due to pregnancy.
Any passengers taking a cab or taxi must also have their seat belt on too. Taxi drivers will have to tell their passengers that the law requires them to belt up and that both the driver and the passenger will be penalized for not abiding by the law.
Very often, there are rear seat passengers getting seriously injured due to not buckling up the seat belt when sitting at the rear of the vehicle. The traffic police view this as a serious traffic offence. The penalties for drivers of not wearing a seat belt will be fined $120 and given 3 demerit points. A $120 fine will be imposed on the passengers inside the vehicle and is not belted up.

Woman jailed six months for entering into sham marriage with Singaporean man
Published on Jun 13, 2013 at 1:19 PM, by Elena Chong
A woman from China was jailed for six months on Thursday for entering into a marriage of convenience with a Singapore citizen.
Shen Huimin, 39, had admitted to marrying Darren Lee Kay Choong, 43, at a cafe at the Registry of Marriages in return for giving Lee $3,000 through her sister, Shen Jun also known as Ah Moon on Feb 28.
The court heard that Shen's elder sister arranged for her to enter into the sham marriage with Lee to get a visit pass. Shen agreed and gave $3,000 to her sister to pass it on to Lee.
On Feb 28, the couple went to the ROM to complete the formalities of the marriage before they proceeded to Inspired by Luv Cafe for the solemnisation.
After the marriage, they did not consummate the marriage. The couple continued to stay with Ms Shen Jun at her home in Prome Road, but at different rooms.
Lee was jailed six months last week for a similar offence.
The maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine and 10 years' jail.

….. News Article ENTERTAINMENT The Platters' Sonny Turner battles 'Great Pretenders' By Han Wei Chou POSTED: 13 Jun 2013 5:41 PM http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/entertainment/the-platters-sonny-turner/709192.html SINGAPORE: US music group The Platters released a lot of great songs back in the 50s and 60s, like "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "Only You", "With This Ring" and "The Great Pretender". Their songs are still played today. However, the group's lasting popularity has also given rise to a huge number of 'Great Pretenders'. Sonny Turner, the sole surviving member of The Platters still active in showbiz, revealed that he now has to contend with numerous imposters with no connection to The Platters, who take advantage of their name in order to make a quick buck. "That is ridiculous! "The imposters call themselves The Platters. They are liars. They pretend to be something they are not. They are defrauding the public," said Turner, in a phone interview with channelnewsasia.com. Turner, who replaced Tony Williams as the lead singer of The Platters back in 1960, said that he has been fighting off these imposters for the past 45 years. While he conceded that he was concerned about how these imposters are preventing him from getting work – people may wind up hiring the cheaper imposters instead of Turner and his crew - he said he was also worried about how they affect the legacy of The Platters. "They hijack the legacy. They have no qualms about doing it. "Some of these other groups, they are mediocre, they don't have the talent. They give a bad image to what the platters stand for," said Turner. The Real Deal The 74-year-old veteran singer (in 2013), who is scheduled to perform in double bill concerts with Rick Sheppard and The Drifters at the Marina Bay Sands MasterCard Theatres in Singapore on June 22-23, expressed that he hopes to give audiences an authentic The Platters experience with his crew during his upcoming gigs. "It's going to be a mixture of energetic music and romantic songs ... 'Only you', 'The Great Pretender', 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes'," said Turner of the concerts with a chuckle. "There will be a lot of fun, a lot of reminiscing of the great songs." "We'll try to meet and greet as many people as possible and just have a wonderful time!" When asked if he ever gets tired of singing The Platters' hits over and over throughout the greater part of his life as a musician, Turner said he actually felt it was "an honour" to have been able to record and perform these songs throughout the years. Turner expressed that he always gets "energised and excited" whenever he sees the audience enjoying The Platters' classic hits. "You'll not get tired of something that you love!" declared the veteran singer. Tickets to The Platters & The Drifter's Live In Singapore concerts are now on sale. - CNA/ha Picture Caption 1: The Platters ~ Sonny Turner (in white) and his crew will perform in Singapore on June 22 and 23.
