Prayer For The Sick (to Jesus, Mary & God)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 3:45 PM
Just received a prayer request for someone's friend via email.
{Hi – please pray for my friend Name – her cancer has spread and it is showing on the outside, i.e. blisters are popping up and oozing pus around her right side (where the mastectomy/grafting was done), her right arm is badly swollen (twice the normal size) and she can’t lift it. She is now on oral as well as liquid morphine – high dosage. Admitted to NUH again today. Doctors have given her about 3-6 months. She is strong and bears the pain without complaining. Thanks and God Bless. }
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her description of her friend's sufferings was so graphic that I was moved to tears (as I wrote the prayer) and also to ponder on 'Pain & Sufferings' in the world.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prayer For The Sick
(to Jesus, Mary & God The Father)
Lord Jesus Christ,
Hear our prayers for NAME.
Help her to unite her sufferings with yours
and if it's your will, may she get better.
Be with her, and let her never forget
that you care for her.
Mary, Our Mother,
Please intercede for us with Jesus, your son,
That she may be cured,
or at least --- may she not feel pain,
or at least --- may her sufferings not be long,
or at least --- may she find Jesus in her sufferings,
or at least --- that her sufferings will not be in vain
with her eternal reward in heaven with God.
Our Father in heaven,
You gave us life.
Surely you'll not take it from us
except to give us eternal life in heaven.
Our human understanding is not enough
to comprehend fully this suffering.
You gave us your son to show us
that suffering is necessary,
even for the innocent.
But like your son,
we ask that you take this cup from us;
Yet not our will, but yours be done.
We make this prayer
through Jesus Christ your son
& his loving mother, Mary.
Amen
Here's an update ~ Wed, Feb 24, 2010 at 2:01 PM
I thank the Lord that I can turn to you for prayers whenever I request them. I have in need of them again. Some of you have been praying for my friend 'B' – the doctors are not going to do much for her anymore. Also, my aunty 'H' has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and will be transferred to Assisi Home & Hospice today. Please join me in praying that they will be comfortable and be at peace for their eternal reward is waiting for them. Thanks much!
Hi – Thanks for your prayers again. My Aunty 'H' passed away peacefully last night. May she rest in peace. My friend 'B' is in a semi-conscious state and in pain. Please continue to pray for her. Thanks and God Bless.
Here's an update ~ Tuesday, 02 March, 2010 9:27 AM
Hi everyone – the Lord has been kind and merciful. My friend 'B' went to meet him yesterday afternoon. May she rest in his arms, Amen.
Final Update ~ Tuesday, 02 March, 2010 9:28 AM
'B' & 'H' have passed away. They were faithful till the end, with their family & friends praying with them, and for them. Like Timothy, they can each say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." ~ Bible, 2 Timothy 4:7 --- As Catholics, we continue to pray for their souls as we pray for the souls of everyone else we know, and those that we do not know.
Why do people need to suffer & die?
Now, I'm no expert on Pain & Suffering but I hope this article will help. I know that it has helped some of the people; AND I also know that it is of NO use to some of the other people; BUT I do know that it definitely works for me.
Trying To Understand Pain & Suffering
http://enterarena.blogspot.com/2010/04/trying-to-understand-pain-suffering-by.html
A priest once explained to me that there's pain & suffering in the world because of the propergation of sin. Our human understanding is not enough to comprehend fully this suffering. God gave us Jesus (His Son) to show us that suffering is necessary, even for the innocent. But like Jesus, we can ask God to take this cup from us; yet not our will, but God's be done. When we see someone suffering, it's NOT necessarily because of his own sin; it may be the sin of others that has been propergated into the world. I believe that God sees all that is happening and will not forget the sufferer's reward in Heaven. Everyone has their own suffering, it's just that sometimes it is not obvious to us. Not all cases of suffering are God's will, but rather due to circumstances of life. Some are very "clear"... for example... we believe that Jesus' Passion is God's Will because it's stated in the Bible, but if it was not in the Bible, then we can only assume that... or think that it's because of those around him who feel politically threatened by his popularity. Which ever the case, it is more important for us to think of it as a cleansing like what Jesus (and his mother) had to go through even though he's totally innocent. When we suffer, we may be going through our own cleansing, or may be, the cleansing of others.
Classical Guitarist ~ Yily Nelson
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcGtcpdV3ds
Yily's pop/classical guitar playing masterfully weaves Flamenco lines around the melodies he plays. One glance at the face of any passerby, and it's apparent that their heart has been touched by this up-and-coming balladeer's compositions. Yily (pronounced Jee-Lee) moved with his family from the Dominican Republic to the Bronx. Today, he can be found playing and singing on the A,C & E line at 42nd street (his favorite spot), as well as performing regularly with his four-piece band in New York City clubs. When he's not performing, Yily teaches guitar, violin and piano. He is currently laying the groundwork for his own music school in Manhattan.
Why We Should NOT Lie
.
The main aim for compiling this gruesome story is to illustrate 'why we should NOT lie'. Adrian Lim had a "clever" way of tricking people by lying. He started out tricking people to make money. Then it was to get women to sleep with him. And "clever" as he was, he always got what he wanted. After lying and tricking people for so long, he slowly developed an in-ability to tell the difference (between) 'when he is lying', and 'when he is not'. His downfall came when he began to believe in his own lies.
Here are the various links to this gruesome story:
Joke ~ Hard Of Hearing
.
A man went to a doctor to talk about his wife. He says to the doctor, 'Doctor, I think my wife is deaf because she never hears me the first time and I always have to repeat myself.'
'Well, 'the doctor replied, 'Go home tonight and stand about 15 feet from her and say something to her. If she doesn't reply move about 5 feet closer and say it again. Keep doing this so that we'll get an idea about the severity of her deafness' .
Sure enough, the man goes home and does exactly as instructed. He starts off about 15 feet from his wife in the kitchen as she is preparing dinner and asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?' He hears no response. He moves about 5 feet closer and asks again. No reply. He moves 5 feet closer. Still no reply. Finally, he moves right behind her, about an inch away, and asks again, 'Honey, what's for dinner?'
His wife replied, 'for the forth time, I'm telling you -- it's chicken.'
Gloria Patri (Glory Be)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Ave Maria (Hail Mary)
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with You. Blessed are You among women And Blessed is the fruit of Your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Pater Noster (Our Father)
Our Father, in Heaven, holy be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day, he rose again. He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Prayer For The Family (Through Our Mother)
Mother of Perpetual Help, bless our families with your tender, motherly love. May the Sacrament of Marriage, bring husbands and wives closer together, that they may always be faithful, and love each other as Christ loves us. Help all mothers and fathers, love and cherish, the children God has entrusted to them. May they always be models of truly Christian love. Help all children, that they may love and respect their parents. Inspire all people, to value Christian marriage and family life. Give us a sense of responsibility, that we do our part, in making our homes havens of love and peace. Mary, our model, help every family grow daily, in genuine love for God and neighbor, so that justice and peace, may flourish everywhere in the human family. Amen.
Our Daily Family Prayer
(Common Catholic Prayers)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Lord, guide us in our effort as we make our Daily Family Prayer to you. Let us prepare ourselves by recalling to mind our faults and failures as we pray...
The I Confess.
I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen.
The Apostle's Creed.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. The Pater Noster.
Our Father, in Heaven, holy be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Ave Maria.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with You. Blessed are You among women And Blessed is the fruit of Your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Gloria Patri.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
The Prayer, of, Our Lady Of Fatima.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, take all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of your Mercy. Amen.
The Prayer of Confidence - In Our Mother.
Mother of Perpetual Help, we come to you and place our trust in you. You are a Mother of mercy. You are called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners; Be then our refuge and our hope. Help us for the love of Jesus Christ. Stretch out your hand to us poor sinners. We bless and thank God for giving us this confidence in you. In the past we have so often sinned, but with your help we can conquer, and you will help us if we pray to you. In all our temptations, may we always turn to you and say: Mary help me! Let me never lose my God. Amen.
The Magnificat.
My soul glorifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour. He looks on his servant in her nothingness; henceforth all ages will call me blessed. The Almighty works marvels for me. Holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age, on those who fear him. He puts forth his arm in strength and scatters the proud-hearted. He casts the mighty from their thrones and raises the lowly. He fills the starving with good things, sends the rich away empty. He protects Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, the mercy promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever.
The Memorare.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to You, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Prayer For The Sick.
Lord Jesus Christ, You bore our sufferings and carried our sorrows, hear our prayers for the sick. Help them to unite themselves with Your sufferings, and if it is Your will, may they get better. Let them never forget that You care for them. Amen.
The Salve Regina.
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve,: to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Prayer For The Family.
Mother of Perpetual Help, bless our families with your tender, motherly love. May the Sacrament of Marriage, bring husbands and wives closer together, that they may always be faithful, and love each other as Christ loves us. Help all mothers and fathers, love and cherish, the children God has entrusted to them. May they always be models of truly Christian love. Help all children, that they may love and respect their parents. Inspire all people, to value Christian marriage and family life. Give us a sense of responsibility, that we do our part, in making our homes havens of love and peace. Mary, our model, help every family grow daily, in genuine love for God and neighbor, so that justice and peace, may flourish everywhere in the human family. Amen.
Blind Volunteer ~ Ron Chandran-Dudley
.
This is a true Singapore Story. Very motivational & inspirational of how one can 'rise above adversity'.
Ron Chandran-Dudley ~ To Be Disabled is Not to Be Unabled
Taken from a Book, Page 32 of
‘For All We Care; 50yrs 0f Social Service in Singapore, 1958-2008’
When Ron Chandran-Dudley became president of the Singapore Association for the Blind (SAB) in 1980, it was like a journey back home.
Way back in 1953 on a hot afternoon in April, the 19-year-old Ron made his way to the association.
On reaching, he was tasked to distribute food, clothing and toys to the blind. He became a “home visitor” and the first blind volunteer to help other blind people. A kick to the head during a rugby game in school had cost him his eyesight a year earlier.
He found that many of the blind were beggars, uneducated, ill, and destitute and asked himself: “Can we only offer the blind white canes, badges, food, clothing and medical care? Why can’t we give them back their dignity? What about training them to do something useful so they can give up begging and learn to be independent?”
It was a thought that would haunt him and led him to believe in the axiom that “to be disabled is not to be unable.”
Eventually, he left to study social anthropology at the London School of Economics and excelled. On his return, he devoted his time to starting the School for the Blind (SFB). Together with the war heroine Elizabeth Choy, the first principal of SFB, he sought out blind children in the villages to train them.
Shortly after, he became general secretary of the association. Before his time, sighted people ran the association. Many of the blind children who attended school learned few vocational skills and found it difficult to integrate into society.
As early as 1965, Ron proposed and helped kick off the integration of visually handicapped children from primary to tertiary education. He developed a system that enabled blind children to live at home, attend primary school at the association, and then integrate fully into the regular school system at the secondary level.
“Ron transformed the place,” said Patrick Sim Hak Kng, a former executive director. “He paved the way for the blind to become full participants in society as telephone operators, clerks, insurance agents, teachers and proficient computer users, unlike the older generation who remained illiterate and dependent.”
He has received numerous awards from here and abroad both for his work and advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities.
In August 2004, the UN presented him with a prestigious award – the first of its kind – for dedicated service in support of the UN programme concerning people with disabilities. His message is simple: people with disabilities are handicapped only by their environment.
Music Note Chart ~ Midi, Note Name & Pitch
Midi Number, Scientific Pitch Notation & Frequency
Note that the Bass & Treble Clef are intentionally upside-down to illustrate the Lower & Higher ends of the piano. It's like playing piano from the left-side of the chart. This chart is displayed this way probably due to the incremental nature of either the ‘Midi Number’ or the ‘Note Name’ (also known as ‘Scientific Pitch Notation’) or both, hence the upside-down Bass & Treble Clef. If I have the time, maybe I'll try to plot a chart from the right-side to correct the orientation of the Bass & Treble Clef.
00 Blank Page ~ Intentionally Left Blank
~~~
Intentionally blank page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intentionally_blank_page
An intentionally blank page is a page that is devoid of content, and may be unexpected. Such pages may serve purposes ranging from place-holding to space-filling and content separation. Sometimes, these pages carry a notice such as, "This page is intentionally left blank." Such notices typically appear in printed works, such as legal documents, manuals and exam papers, in which the reader might otherwise suspect that the blank pages are due to a printing error and where missing pages might have serious consequences.

Help This Shepherd Be A Lamb ~ Jesus In The Garden

I played Jesus in 1999 and this was one of the songs I had to sing. I found singing it difficult emotionally because it must be difficult for Jesus to bear the sin of the whole world... especially so when he could have easily walked away and not do it.

I sang another song titled 'Thou Hath No Power At All' which can also be found in this blog.

Help This Shepherd Be A Lamb
~ Jesus In The Garden
.
I am here all alone… praying to you on my knees.
Not my will but your own… may this cup be taken from me.
Yet I know the time has come… the final sacrifice… your only son.
.
Help this shepherd be a lamb… the sacrifice, for mortal man
Help this shepherd be a lamb… that must be slain to bring life… once again.
.
How can I bear the sin of all? Father, will you intercede?
Must the sacrifice be me? Once again I hear my call?
I can feel the agony, the weight of all the sin that’s placed on me.

Help this shepherd be a lamb… the sacrifice, for mortal man
Help this shepherd be a lamb… that must be slain to bring life… once again.

Haircut ~ Ivy League

===.
~~~
.....
THURSDAY, JANUARY 21, 2010
The sides and back are cut short and tapered across the crown, and the hair gradually becomes longer and fuller toward the front. In a classic ivy league (shown in the illustration), enough hair is left in the front so that it can be neatly parted and styled, usually with pomade or gel. More contemporary ivy league cuts may style the hair upward or forward in the front, but are still generally neat cuts that follow the shape of the head.
Trust (A Matter Of Trust)
.
On the matter of trust --- It's not that we 'Do' or 'Do NOT' Trust. Trust does not have to be absolute in the extremes of 'Trust' & 'Do-Not-Trust'. There is such a thing as a 'Level Of Trust' where you 'Trust-More' or you 'Trust-Less'. There is also the 'in what' to trust. I may trust you in ironing my shirt, but I trust ME more in cleaning the insides of my ear. Do I have to trust you in cleaning my ear? Well, maybe if I've got no choice than I'll have to. In the meantime, I'm not going to let you clean the insides of my ear --- even if I do trust you.
.
Here's what the Bible has to say about trust...
Bible Quote ~ If You Can Be Trusted With Little
Luke 16:10-12
NIV (New International Version)
[10] Whoever can be trusted with very little, can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
[11] So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
[12] And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own?
.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's my take on the word 'Trust'. If I am to understand the bible correctly (see quote above, Luke 16:10-12), we're suppose to 'Trust' a person with small things first, and then slowly progress to bigger things. It looks like 'Trust' has to be earned. An example would be trusting a child to cross the road. Ultimately we trust that the child will be able to do it... eventually... but we need to monitor the child with the smaller stuff first like, can he walk steadily, is he mindful of saftety in a not-so-dangerous place, if he is not tall enough for the driver to see... will he wait and walk with someone taller, etc.

Here's what else I have to say about 'Trust'. [Click Here]

Computer Kids Of Today

Computer & kids of today. What are we getting into? As technology progresses, we fall behind in knowing how to handle this new technology. Definitely NOT boring. On the contrary, it poses quite a challenge and makes life exciting. It inspires creativity. It provides an adventure. With challenges like this, we don't need Extreme Sports, we don't need to climb Mount Everest & we certainly don't need to Bungee Jump. We just need to be creative. It's just like playing a computer game, and the game's not over... yet.

Maths ~ L Shape Formula ~ by Henry Seet

This Blog is dedicated to the Man who helped me and my sibling in Mathematics. Thank-you Uncle Henry.

Here's a maths formula I used extensively during my GCE 'O' Level Exams. Me and my sibling weren't very good in mathematics so we needed tuition. A neighbour and family friend of our parents agreed to tutor us although his profession was an Accountant. As far as I can remember, this was the only main formula we needed to do all the mathematics problems during our GCE 'O' Level. It made us seem like we were very good in our Maths and the envy of our friends.

Here's the formula:

Here's sample as an example:

Should We Look After Our Aging Parents?

.
Here’s an excerpt of an article by Brian Richmond, a presenter/producer at Gold 90FM. He is on air from 2pm to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 8pm to midnight on Sundays.

"What are we demonstrating to our future generations if we were to turn our backs on our very own flesh and blood? Perhaps, we can take a cue from a beast of the forest — the elephant. Elephants are known to have one of the most closely-knit societies of any living species. Elephant families can only be separated by death or capture. Elephants don’t walk away from their sick or aged elders like some humans do. Cases have been recorded where a herd will come to the aid and comfort of an injured or dying member even if it imperils them. They rumble loudly as death nears. When death comes, the herd makes a shallow grave and throw branches and leaves over the carcass. The herd remains for a day or two before moving on. No need for any Maintenance Act of any sort for these animals to know what they must do for their family members in their last days! So, if ever you are in need of advice when the plight of an elderly lands on your lap, look at the elephants…"

Family Of Geese

.
Here's just a a brief discription of a what we can learn about being family, from a family of geese. The family of geese is also a good model for sociey.
.
.
Have you ever wondered why these remarkable birds fly in “V” formation”? Science has recently learned that the flock actually travels up to 71 percent faster and easier by maintaining this pattern. The goose on the point of the “V” has the most difficult assignment, resulting from greater wind resistance. Thus, that lead position is rotated every few minutes in the air, which permits the flock to fly long distances without rest. The easiest flight is experienced at the two rear sections of the formation and, remarkably, the strong geese permit the young, weak, and old birds to occupy those less strenuous positions. It is even believed that the constant “honking” of the flock is method by which the stronger birds encourage the laggards. Furthermore, if a goose becomes too tired or is ill and has to drop out of the flock, he is never abandoned. A healthy bird will follow the ailing one to the ground and wait with him until he can continue in flight. This cooperation within the social order contributes greatly to the survival and will-being of the flock.

KAKI BUKIT PRISON SCHOOL

They prepared for the O levels in one year

SINGAPORE — This school in Singapore is surrounded by chain-link fence topped with razor wire.

Unlike their mainstream counterparts, its students have no Internet access. And, while they sit for the same O level examinations, they do not have the luxury of a full four-year programme — they must get ready in just one year. So the results of the students of Kaki Bukit Prison School appear all the more remarkable.

They comprised 79 of the 107 O-level candidates who sat for the exams in prison last year. Overall, 87.7 per cent scored at least 3 O level passes, and 98.7 per cent passed at least one subject — outperforming the 87.9 per cent of private candidates across Singapore.

Over the last six years, the prison school has even produced 13 students who scored five A1s or more.

This year’s top student Mark, 22, fell short but still scored five distinctions: Three A1s and two A2s.

He said: “We had to cram everything, all the topics, within one year. And some of the topics were not taught by the teachers; We had to self-revise for the subjects. It was tougher because we didn’t have anyone to guide us along.”

Not long ago, such an achievement would have been unthinkable for the tanned, bespectacled youth. Having left school at age 16 after dismal results in his first O-level sitting, Mark drifted into gangs. At 19, he was jailed for armed robbery.

In secondary school, he recounted, “I mixed with bad company and was playful, I neglected my studies. When I saw all my friends entering polytechnic and JC, I was very disappointed with myself and decided I never wanted to study anymore.”

But in jail, he decided to try to forge for himself a better future. Mark is now awaiting release in March and intends to enrol in a polytechnic to pursue a diploma in leisure and resort management.

His classmates in the prison school are aged between 17 and 51. With some not having studied in over 10 years, it was difficult for them to recall what they had learnt before, said teacher Christine Tan.

“Their main difficulty would be that in mainstream schools, they have interesting ways of studying, like they go on the Internet, view videos. Here it’s more dry. It’s a challenge to bring across lessons given these restrictions.”

Better a ‘B’ student than ...

Some inmates drop out, for various reasons. Principal Samuel Sng said: “The prison school is, after all, still a prison, so the inmates need to go through a very tough regime. That, on top of academic stress, is not easy for them.”

The focus at the school is not on grades, but character development, the principal added.

We would rather have a grade B student who creates a path for himself after his release from prison, than have a distinction pupil coming back again. ~ Mr Samuel Sng, Kaki Bukit Prison School principal

Aaron, 31, who is in prison for the third time for drug-related offences, hopes this time to stay on the straight and narrow after his release next week.

The former bartender, who scored 3 A1s, 1 B3 and 1 C5, wants to further his studies at a polytechnic. “I’m excited but also anxious ... I’m afraid people will not accept me because I’m ex-convict.”

Tattoo ~ Permanent Vs Temporary

I saw on TV something about Tattoo Art. I love art and quite a lot of the designs are very good... but I can NOT understand why anyone would want their designs to be permanent. If I ever want to do a tattoo (I actually thought of doing it once) I'll probably go for one of those temporary ones so that I can change the design whenever I get bored with it.

However, I do understand that sometimes we know that we like something so much that we will probably not change. I have liked some things in my life for so long and have not changed, even till now, so I know that this is possible and I'm not denying this. But I have made some changes to some of my likes that have surprised me, so based on this, I will resist any desire to make anything permanent, especially with tattoos coz it's irreversible.

Ethnic Race ~ Mum's Or Dad's? You Choose

.
Here's an example.

"Christian Yeo is 10 months old. His dad Leonard is Chinese, and his mom Cheryl is Eurasian.

Currently, Christian can be registered as belonging to either race. But a new policy means he can have both Chinese and Eurasian on his official papers. The race that his parents choose to place first will be considered the main one
."

But now you can choose both.

Putting a race to a name:
Mixed-race children to have 'double-barrelled' IC race

by Neo Chai Chin
05:55 AM Jan 13, 2010

SINGAPORE - Children with parents of different races will in due course be able to share dual heritages on their identity cards (ICs), by way of "double-barrelled" races.So, a Caucasian-Chinese child will be able to state just that in his IC - instead of Chinese, Caucasian, or Eurasian. And a child of Indian-Chinese parents will not have to choose which parent's race to adopt in his IC.This new development comes in the wake of relaxed rules that went into force on Jan 2 that require mixed-marriage couples to register their newborns' race at birth, taking on either parent's race.Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs Ho Peng Kee announced this in Parliament yesterday. He was responding to Member of Parliament (Bishan-Toa Payoh) Hri Kumar, who asked if mixed-marriage couples could state both races on their child's IC. Associate Professor Ho said the Government has decided to allow this after careful consideration. Two conditions will apply to this policy, however parents have to decide the "dominant" race of the child, which will be the first component in the race combination.And only two races will be permitted as the relaxation "cannot be allowed to go on ad infinitum"; children of three or more races will have to pick which two to include.Assoc Prof Ho said Government agencies will announce "in due course" when the "new approach" would take effect. Singaporeans are currently classified under 95 races in their ICs. Chinese, Malays and Indians account for 99 per cent of the population, while Eurasians and Arabs form the bulk of the remaining 1 per cent.While it is believed the changes will have an impact on Government policies for public housing and which mother tongue a child studies in school - hence the need to specify a dominant race, as Assoc Prof Ho explained - an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority spokesperson said ICA only records one's race, and does not control how other Government agencies use the records.Would race classification then become "an artificial exercise (where) you pick a race of convenience", given the greater flexibility, asked Mr Hri Kumar, who is married to a Chinese and has a daughter.Assoc Prof Ho replied that race classification is needed in multiracial Singapore, and the Republic's approach is better than countries that "do away with recording and reflecting race to be politically correct".Singaporeans like branding consultant Kim Faulkner, 48, welcomed the "double-barrelled" race option. "My kids go to local schools and there are increasingly more mixed race children in the school," said the mother of three, who is married to a Briton.Ms Faulkner said she would opt for a "double-barrelled" race in her children's ICs, as it "more accurately reflects their ethnic heritage".But technician Lina Adam, 38, was undecided. Married to a Chinese, Ms Lina, a Malay, said she would decide when her two-year-old daughter applies for an IC at the age of 15. Having two races "could confuse the kid even more", she said.

Priceless ~ Why ‘Priceless’ IS Priceless

.
First of all, NOT to confuse anyone, here’s the true definition of ‘priceless’. The true meaning of ‘priceless’ is ‘Meaning A’ (see below) ‘something of huge value that you can’t put a price to it’.

When I was very young, someone (I can’t remember who) taught me that there were 2 meanings to the word ‘priceless’ but ‘Meaning A’ is widely accepted. Here’s what I was taught.

Meaning A ~ something of huge value that you can't put a price to it.

Meaning B ~ something of no value and therefore has no price.

Although I have used it as ‘Meaning A’ (something of huge value), I have believed in existence of this dual meaning for a very long time until recently when I’ve decided to look it up.

While looking, I came across a BLOG that explains very well why I was taught that way and also → Why ‘Priceless’ IS Priceless.

Here's an excerpt from ~ Christopher T. George’s BLOG
http://christophertgeorge.blogspot.com/2009/12/priceless.html
priceless” has two distinct meanings:
1) something is worth so much that you can put no price to it; and
2) the thing is so worthless that it has no price.
So two opposite meanings both with the same word,

two meanings for the same price. Priceless!
