Ice Kacang Recipe ~ by Traditional Recipe Mom
.
.
Ais kacang or ice kacang (Chinese红豆冰;pinyin: hóngdòu bing; literally "red bean ice"), is a dessert served in Malaysia and Singapore. It is also popularly known as air batu campur in Malay or ABC for short. The word "air batu", literally meaning "stone water" means ice and "campur" means mixed. It is sweet-tasting and is primarily ice served with sweet flavoured syrup and jelly. The word Kacang is a Malay word for bean, and the word "ais" is a transliteration of the English term "ice".
.
Formerly, it was made of only shaved ice and red beans. Today, ice kacang generally comes in bright colours, and with different fruit cocktails and dressings. Several varieties have also been introduced which contain aloe verain some form or another, such as in jelly form. Often, a large serving of attap chee (palm seed), red beanssweetcorngrass jelly, cubes of agar agar and cendol form the base. Evaporated milk is drizzled over the mountain of ice. To cater to the palates of the modern customer, some stalls have even introduced novelty toppings like , chocolate syrup and ice cream. There are also versions that shun the multi-coloured syrup and are served with just a drizzling of gula melaka syrup instead.
.
Many South-East Asian coffee shops, hawker centers and food courts offer this dessert

Mmuahh..Here we go

  • 50g red beans, cooked till soft
  • 50g sweet corn
  • 50g lengkong (jelly), cubed
  • 50g cendol
  • 50g agar-agar strand, cooked
  • 50g sago - cooked, add a drop of coloring
  • 100g mixed fruit in syrup
  • 4 tsp red syrup
  • 4 tsp brown syrup
  • 2 tsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp evaporated condensed milk
  • 1 big bowl of shaved ice
Make red syrup by dissolving sugar in boiling water. Add a knot of pandan leaf. Add red dye (cochineal). To make brown colored syrup, dissolve brown sugar in hot water, add pandan leaf. Strain. In a bowl, add a bit of all ingredients. Top generously with shaved ice in a shape of a steep mountain. Spoon some red and brown syrup according to your taste. Pour both types of milk on the iced.

p/s: Serves 4-5 and lastly put ice cream any kind of flavor of u like to make great taste of 'Ais Kacang'

When Everyone Is Rich ~ by PGA

I've learnt that...
When everyone is rich, nobody is rich;
When everyone is poor, nobody is poor.
~ PGA, 2011 Sep 29, 1740hrs
.
This is what may happen when you wake up and find out everyone in the world is rich with exactly the same amount of money and possessions.
.
Man wakes up. He goes to the toilet. The flushing system is spoiled. There's no water when he turns on the tap. He makes a call to get it fixed, but nobody's answering the phone. ..
.
It's gonna to get worst... I'm sure.

Mass Etiquette: How to behave during a Catholic Mass

Some just sent me this... so I'm posting it here...

===.
Mass Etiquette:  How to behave during a Catholic Mass
(As told by a priest to his congregation in Canada) We may as well heed this advice!!!

Remember you have entered into the house of God for the purpose of prayer, adoration, reflection, or  to celebrate a sacrament. Now is not the time to talk to your friends, but to talk to God.  Please do not bring in any cups of coffee!

In order to help you enter into a sacred space we ask you to remember :

1. Turn off cell phones.  Do not text messages or check your Facebook account from the pews or the back of the church.  Leave your social media devices in the car or at home.  It's time to focus on God.  It's distracting for others who are trying to pray.  If you are waiting for an important phone call, consider going to mass at another time. Cameras, likewise should be left in the car, unless you are coming for a tour of the church and you have checked with the tour guide.

2. Do not chew gum during mass or put it in your side cheek, to chew on it later.  Spit it out before entering into a church.  Did you know that you are supposed to be prayerfully fasting for an hour before mass?  There is a possibility that if you keep the gum in your mouth and resume chewing after receiving the Eucharist, you may  unintentionally spit out a bit of the body of Jesus.  That would be sacrilegious.

3. Dress with dignity for Mass.  It seems that many women, many girls in this day and age have a need to always have a 'sexy' look.  Mass is not a cocktail party.  Mass is not a hockey arena.  Come dressed with decorum, an aura of dignity.  Consider teaching your children the different types of dress are important for different occasions.  For  everything there is a time.  Please remember to dress modestly and ensure your daughters do , too.  Bare shoulders and visible brastraps are not a good idea.  They are highly distracting.

4. Do not bring children's activity bags, granola bars, cheerio's, juice boxes, water bottles, toys including a child's DS, play station, game boy, iPod touch or similar types of amusements to church.  Mass is only one hour long.  Children would grow in virtue if their parents expected them to detach from these things for at least an hour a week.  For little toddlers there are beautiful series of little Catholic  books.  There are plastic rosaries or books about saints.  Immerse your children in spiritual treasures during mass.

5. Parents have a duty give their children ongoing, on the job training, all the time.  That includes the obligation to train their children on the appropriate times to kneel, sit, stand and face the altar.  If children are engaged in playing with toys, eating, and drinking, they are surely not being taught about the fact that Jesus is really up there on the altar, significance of prayer, self control, and the importance of participating in the mass.  Parents themselves get distracted with managing the dispensing of food and toys.  On top of that it is a distraction to others in the pews who are hungry themselves, or who are trying to fully participate in mass.

6. Do not drink bottled water in a house of worship. If an adult, for some reason needs to drink water to take some medication, please leave the church premises or at least the mass and drink the water, if you must outside the celebration of the Eucharist.

7.  If you are late for mass, please do not walk down the aisles looking for a seat until it's appropriate.  You are disrupting others.  The Toronto Symphony does not allow late comers to waltz in at 'whatever' time.  Church ushers should be trained to enforce this.  Please do not leave mass before it ends.  You will be missing the supernatural graces of the final blessing.  Besides it's a bad example for your kids

8. Do not be an observer of the mass, but a participater.  Don't ask yourself, 'What is this mass doing for me?"  Instead, ask yourself, 'What can I do to participate in the mass more fully?"  Make an effort to listen, follow the readings, the homily, read scripture passages before mass, learn the prayers of the mass, follow along in the
misslette and sing!  You will become an outstanding role model for your kids.

9. Do not have conversations during the mass.  You would never have a  conversation, during a performance of the symphony. If you did, you would be asked to correct your behaviour or leave.  Quite simply it's rude.

10. It might be useful to ask ourselves, Who am I?  Why am I here? The answers: To know God, to love him and serve Him especially at Mass!

ENJOY  in the  LORD'S presence during the Eucharist Celebraion.

And may I add the following:

As you enter the House God, take some holy water provided at the entrance and sign yourself with the following words:

May the holy waters of baptism, bless me, wash me clean and make me whole, In the Name of the Father and of The Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Before entering your pew, genuflect before The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, saying I bown down before you and adore you most Holy Trinity;  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

At the end of the Mass, after a brief period of thanksgiving prayer, before exiting the pew say:

Thank you Abba Father, thank you Lord Jesus and thank you Holy Spirit for permitting me to be so long in your holy presence and for all the blessings you have showered upon me and this congregation.

God Bless you all.

Generic Daily Prayer

Dear heavenly Father. You are most holy. You show us the strength of your love in your mercy and forgiveness. Continue to fill us with the gifts of your love. Help us to lead our lives daily with steadfast focus on the eternal life you promised. When we falter in our sinful ways... help us return to you in prayer... so that our focus is renewed... and our faith... strengthened. Keep us holy so that we will be able to share in the joys of your kingdom. We ask this of you... through your son, our Lord Jesus Christ... and the holy spirit. Amen.

instead of a diamond ring when proposing to her.

Boyfriend: A diamond watch is a more practical gift.
A diamond ring is too small. I want to put a watch
on your hand to hold on to because it is bigger.

Girlfriend: Why not give me a diamond hula hoop instead?'

Boyfriend: Will you marry me?

Girlfriend: Get the diamond hula hoop first.

Heart surgery girl's mum thanks S'poreans in a song
By Zubaidah Nazeer, Indonesia Correspondent
The Straits Times ~ Wednesday, 2011 Jul 13, World, Regional, Page A17

JAKARTA: Ms Natalie Tjahja took her ailing daughter to Singapore for heart surgery in 2006. Although the girl died a day after the operation, Ms Tjahja, 40, never forgot the Samaritans in Singapore who helped her financially.

Last Tuesday - the day her only child would have turned 14 had she lived - Ms Tjahja handed Singapore Embassy officials here a CD of a song she composed. Titled The Last Harbour, the song was dedicated to the Singaporeans she met during her ordeal five years ago.

'I cannot forget how Singaporeans helped me when I had nothing. Singapore will always have a special place in my heart,' she told The Straits Times.

She recalled meeting a staff member from the hospital canteen who offered her food for free to cheer her up, and a woman who visited every day during their month-long stay 'to pray with me'.

In 2008, as a token of appreciation, she gave copies of an illustrated children's book she had written to individuals and staff at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where her daughter was treated.

Three months after her daughter's death, Ms Tjahja, who has separated from her husband, quit as co-partner from her travel agency and decided to set up a foundation for terminally ill children with US$100 (S$122) as seed money. The Maria Monique Last Wish Foundation, named after her daughter, was registered in early 2007, and has since grown by word of mouth, via friends and their network.

Today, it has nearly 1,000 volunteers and about 70 full-time staff across 25 provinces in Indonesia. More importantly, the foundation has helped fulfil the last wishes of about 10,000 underprivileged and handicapped children aged between five and 15 years, not just in Indonesia but also in the United States, Japan, Vietnam, China, Haiti and South Africa.

'The foundation is not here to help pay medical fees but to give joy,' Ms Tjahja said. 'My condition to people who wish to donate is that they give their time or money directly to benefit the child they are helping. They have to be there personally to grant the wish.'

One beneficiary is Aman, 11, from Tangerang, West Java. The bedridden child had to be carried around by his mother, who works as a household help, wherever she went. Ms Tjahja said: 'His last wish was to be 'human'. So we gave him a wheelchair so he could move around without help.'

Ms Tjahja and her foundation have been featured in CNN's Impact Your World segment, which spotlights people who are making a difference with their work.

One of the foundation's supporters is national carrier Garuda Indonesia, which helps transport wheelchairs to the needy children in other cities.

Ms Tjahja said her focus now is on building 'happy rooms' for handicapped children to play in. Every room, which is slightly bigger than an HDB master bedroom, is equipped with a ball pit, a mini-trampoline, slides and a swing.

Acknowledging that her life is now solely devoted to this cause, she said: 'After losing the only precious thing in my life, I just want to give happiness to as many critically ill children as I can.

'Granting these children their last wish to make their lives a little better is the only thing that drives me now.'

Beautiful Girl ~ Jose Mari Chan ~ Lyrics

[V1]
Beautiful girl, wherever you are
I knew when I saw you, you had opened the door
I knew that I'd love again after a long, long while
I'd love again.

[V2]
You said "hello" and I turned to go
But something in your eyes left my heart beating so
I just knew that I'd love again after a long, long while
I'd love again.

[Refrain]
It was destiny's game
For when love finally came on
I rushed in line only to find
That you were gone.

[V3]
Whenever you are, I fear that I might
Have lost you forever like a song in the night
Now that I've loved again after a long, long while
I've loved again.

[Refrain]
It was destiny's game
For when love finally came on
I rushed in line only to find
That you were gone.

[V4]
Beautiful girl, I'll search on for you
'Till all of your loveliness in my arms come true
You've made me love again after a long, long while
In love again

[Ending]
And I'm glad that it's you
Hmm, Beautiful Girl.

Prayer For Those Who Procrastinate

Dear heavenly Father, we make this prayer for those or us who have difficulty doing the tasks at hand immediately due to a variety of reasons... be it at work or in our studies. Perhaps it is due to distractions that take us away from the tasks we have to do. Help us... by keeping us focused on the things we have to do. Whenever we stray away from the tasks we have in front of us... help us realize quickly... repeat this prayer... and get back on track. Help us also to realize that everything that happens in our lives, happens for reasons best known to you. In realizing our weakness in procrastination, we are humbled... and in our humility... we recognize that we need to prayer to you, our heavenly Father, so that we will be able to see the little miracles that happen everyday whenever you help us. Let us not be discouraged by our falling... but rejoice in our rising... each time we fall... which will can only make us stronger. We make this prayer through Jesus your son... and Mary our mother. Amen.

Prayer For The Family

Dear Heavenly Father. Bless our families. May the Sacrament of Marriage bring husbands and wives closer together, that they may always be faithful, and love each other as Christ loves us. Help all mothers and fathers, love and cherish, the children God has entrusted to them. May they always be models of truly Christian love. Help all children, that they may love and respect their parents. Inspire all people, to value Christian marriage and family life. Give us a sense of responsibility, that we do our part, in making our homes havens of love and peace. Mary, our mother of perpetual help, our ideal model in true christian love, help every family grow daily, in genuine love for God and neighbor, so that justice and peace, may flourish everywhere in the human family. Amen.

The answer, on the whole, is clearly WRONG... but how many of you actually know what's wrong with this answer?

The Question:
"Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person that you love? Why or why not?"
~~~..
The Answer:
"If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God, too."
This is found in the 1st Reading, the very first line.
24th Sunday In Ordinary Time, Year A
Entrance Antiphon:
Give peace lord, to those who wait for you and your prophets will proclaim you as you deserve. Hear the prayers of your servant and of your people Israel.
1st Reading (Sirach 27:30-28:7) ~ Note that Ecclesiasticus = Sirach
Sirach 27:30 ~ Wrath and anger are hateful things, yet the sinner hugs them tight.
Sirach 28:1-7 ~ The vengeful will suffer the LORD's vengeance, for he remembers their sins in detail. Forgive your neighbor's injustice; then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven. Could anyone nourish anger against another and expect healing from the LORD? Could anyone refuse mercy to another like himself, can he seek pardon for his own sins? If one who is but flesh cherishes wrath, who will forgive his sins? Remember your last days, set enmity aside; remember death and decay, and cease from sin! Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor; remember the Most High's covenant, and overlook faults.
Responsorial Psalm:
Ps 102/103:1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12
[R/]
The Lord is compassion and love,
slow to anger and rich in mercy.
[V1]
My soul, give thanks to the Lord,
all my being, bless his holy name.
My soul, give thanks to the Lord
and never forget all his blessings.
[V2]
It is he who forgives all your guilt,
who heals every one of your ills,
who redeems your life from the grave,
who crowns you with love and compassion
[V3]
His wrath will come to an end;
he will not be angry for ever.
He does not treat us according to our sins
nor repay us according to our faults.
[V4]
For as the heavens are high above the earth
so strong is his love for those who fear him.
As far as the east is from the west
so far does he remove our sins.
2nd Reading (2 Rom 14:7-9)
Brothers and sisters: None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For this is why Christ died and came to life, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Gospel Accalmations:
Alleluia, alleluia!
Speak, Lord, your servant is listening:
you have the message of eternal life
Alleluia!
(Sam3:9, Jn 6:68)
or
Alleluia, alleluia!
I give you a new commandment:
love one another, just as I have loved you,
says the lord.
Alleluia!
(Jn 13:34)
The Gospel (Mt 18:21-35)
Mt 18:21-35 ~ Peter approached Jesus and asked him, "Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?" Jesus answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.' Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount. He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, 'Pay back what you owe.' Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' But he refused. Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prison until he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?' Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart."
