Marriage Vows, Its Strength & Who Would You Save?

Do we know the strength of our marriage vows?

"Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

Who would you save?

In yesterday's sermon (2011 Nov 27, 1130am Mass), Fr Kenny in CTK (Singapore) asked this question which went something like this... "...you're out at sea, the boat has capsized and you're a strong swimmer but you can only save one person... who would you save, your husband or your mother?". I thought it should be "your wife or your mother?"... anyway... he went on to explain that nothing should come between the marriage of a husband and wife. So the answer to that question was "save your husband". To emphasize further... he replaced the choices with "...your husband and your cute baby girl?" and the answer is still the same... "... it is unfortunate that you should save your husband and watch your cute baby girl drown".

Let's hope and pray that we never have to answer this question.
