This website is useful for verifying if the email you receive is a Useless Chain eMail or not. Here's an example; I received this via email. This email has been around since 2002.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For info, good to be a little cautious.
Can you tell when you are in a hotel room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror whether it is in fact a mirror or 2-way glass?
Here's how:
I thought it was quite interesting ! And I know in about 30 seconds you're going do what I did and find the nearest mirror... Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not? This is not to scare you, but to make you aware. A policewoman who travels all over the U.S. and gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed this on. When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them)? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it.
So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at? Just conduct this simple
Test:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, FOR IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!
"No Space, Leave the Place" So remember, every time you see a Mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything.
Remember: "No Space, Leave the Place"
Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc.
Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in-law, mothers, girlfriends and friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Going to this link we find out that it's a Useless Chain Email. See what this website has to say about this email that was sent.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/mirror.html
I've been unable to track down any reliable source (policewoman or otherwise) of this information, nor does the NYPD have anything to do with this tragically misinformed notice.
Can you really tell if the mirror you're staring at hides a pair of leering eyes using just your fingernail? The simple answer is no. All you can tell from the "fingernail test" is what type of mirror you're looking at. Some mirrors (called second surface mirrors) have the reflective surface on the "bottom" of a sheet of glass, so you look through the glass to see it, thus creating a gap. The other type of mirror, a first-surface mirror, puts the reflective surface on top, thus no gap. However, this type of mirror is more expensive and usually only used where precision reflections are necessary.
The 2-way mirror discussed above is not a mirror at all, but rather a window made of specially treated glass that uses varying intensities of light to mimic the reflective surface of a mirror. When light is bright on one side, and darker on the other, the glass will look like a mirror from the brighter side. A good example is a mirrored office building. During the day, you can't see into the building, but at night, you can clearly see into any lighted office. If the light intensity is the same on both sides of the glass, it will appear to be just a normal piece of glass.
If you really want to know if the mirror you're using is 2-way, just turn the lights off. Of course, you might look mighty silly standing in a dark bathroom trying to see the little people in the mirror, so hope nobody walks in on you. Break this chain!
The Triumph (The Ron Clark Story)
.
I just saw this film on TV today. It's about this teacher, Ron Clark , from a small town, who moves to New York and tries to make a difference in the lives of his students, despite nobody, including the students themselves, believing in them.
.
.
.
This , creative and idealistic young teacher who leaves his small North Carolina hometown to teach in a New York City public school. He made up 55 rules that he & the children will follow.
.
Here are some fo the rules he taught them.
.
• Make eye contact
• Respect other; ideas and opinions
• Do not save seats
• Say thank you within three seconds of receiving something
• When you win, do not brag; when you lose, do not show anger
• Do your homework each and every night without fail
• Do not talk in a movie theater
• Be the best person you can be
• Always be honest
• If you are asked a question in conversation, ask a question in return
• Perform random acts of kindness
• Learn the names of all the teachers in the school and greet them
• If someone bumps into you, even if it was not your fault , say excuse me
• Stand up for what you believe in
.
Through his passionate use of special rules for his classroom, highly innovative teaching techniques and an undying devotion to his students and helping them cope with their problems, Clark is able to make a remarkable difference in the lives of his students.
.
For one young girl trying to attend school while helping to raise her siblings, he offers a chance for her to overcome her situation and become one of the class' top students. For one young boy with a penchant for graffiti, he offers an ideal outlet for artistic expression. Even when he is almost overcome by pneumonia, Clark continues to work with his students, hoping that he can raise their test scores to an acceptable level, or possibly even higher. However, when Mr Clark returns, he finds out his class did not deliver the goods but he remains optimistic about their chances. The kids sit in the state exams and a few days later, Mr Clark takes the kids to see the Phantom of Opera. In the end, Principal Turner reveals that Mr Clark's class got the highest average in the state and Mr Clark was regarded by his students as their best teacher in the world.
It's nuts! Squirrel becomes a Web sensation
AFP - Thursday, August 20, 2009
.
WASHINGTON (AFP) - - There's a squirrel popping up all over the Internet.
.
The rodent first made its appearance in a holiday photo taken by an American couple in Canada and has gone on to become a Web sensation.
Melissa Brandts and her husband, Jackson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, were taking a time delay picture of themselves in front of a lake at Canada's Banff National Park when the squirrel jumped into the frame.
Melissa Brandts submitted the picture to National Geographic's "Your Shot" photo gallery with an explanation of how the unusual picture came about.
"We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intrigued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot!"
"A once in a lifetime moment! We were laughing about this little guy for days!!"
The holiday photo has since gone viral on the Internet and websites such as "The Squirrelizer" have sprung up in which the photo of the squirrel can be inserted into any picture.
The squirrel even has its own page on Facebook created by Melissa Brandts with more than 2,000 members at last count.
Stepping Out ~ Chinese TV Series
Date of First Posting: 2009 Aug 21, 1517hrs, Friday
One of the earlier videos stopped working (I've deleted them), but I've managed to find more links to this Stepping Out Opening Theme Song.
One of the links is good coz it shows the Romanized Chinese Title 'Chu Lu' which I can read.
And also... the '出路 - 主题曲' which I copy-pasted to Google Translate shows 'Outlet - Theme Song'... which I take to mean 'Stepping Out', the official English Title.
Scroll down for more info about this show.
Stepping Out ~ Chinese TV Series
Stepping Out (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stepping_Out_(TV_series)
Stepping Out (simplified Chinese: 出路) is a Chinese drama in Singapore, telecast in 1999 and repeated in 2006.
The series mainly talks about the Chinese immigrant experience in Singapore, and their rough, hard ascent (along with the rest of Singapore) to the present state of wealth and riches that is unprecedented in Singaporean history.
The show stars Yvonne Lim, Xie Shaoguang, Cynthia Koh, Tay Ping Hui, Ivy Lee, and Terence Cao.
Xie Shaoguang and Cynthia Koh won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards respectively for that year's Star Awards. Tay Ping Hui won the Best Supporting Actor and the show also won Best Drama Serial.
Plot
It is the 1920s, a time of great chaos in China. Poverty was rampant in many regions, forcing many people to seek their fortune in the fabled Southern region known collectively as Nanyang. The story begins with three young men from the Fujian province.
A poor oyster collecter named Chen Xia (Terence Cao) wishes to marry his childhood sweetheart, Hong Dou (Cynthia Koh), but struggles to make ends meet.
The son of a wealthy tea plantation owner, Jia Fu (Xie Shaoguang) is a wastrel. Lazy and childish, the only saving grace to his character is his thoughtless generosity. In his naivete he loses his inheritance and is left with nothing but the support of his industrious wife, Ju (Ivy Lee).
After Tian's (Chunyu Shanshan) father dies on the trip to Nanyang, his widowed mother and his two siblings are forced to live a life of scavenging for food in the wilderness. After his sister is killed and his brother goes missing, he is hired by a rich merchant. His new employer is cruel and his meekness makes him an easy target for bullying, but he finds himself attracted to the man's second wife, HaiYan (Yvonne Lim).
Despite the disparity between their situations and personalities, they each find themselves making the trip to the port of Singapore in Nanyang all with the same purpose: To seek a way out of their circumstances and a better future.
Guitalele ~ Yamaha GL-1 Guitalele (1997)
...
GUITALELE
from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitalele
(go to link for latest info)
GUITALELE is spelled without the ‘R’ in but sometimes with, as in ‘GUITA'R'LELE’. It is basically a Guitar-Ukulele Hybrid that includes a cross between a Classical Guitar and a Tenor Ukulele. One of the drawbacks of guitars is their unwieldy shape and size. The GUITALELE overcome these through its size and a built-in microphone that permits playing the GUITALELE as an Acoustic Guitar or connected to an amplifier. The GUITALELE is considered a Travel Guitar. In January 1997, Yamaha Corporation came out with the GL-1 GUITALELE.
Various image formats for various experimentation purposes. I don’t know why the File Size from Windows Explorer (WE) does not tally with the File Size that I’m reading in this MS-Outlook Email (MSOE). Anyway, I’ve written both in this format (WE,MSOE) to differentiate them.
03 ~ JPG Edit fr MsWord (1KB,5KB).jpg
04 ~ PNG Edit fr MsWord (2KB,5KB).png
.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Conclusion (still on going):
.
01 ~ BMP Original (3KB,6KB).bmp ~ this file format I’ve been using for a long time now and it’s good for editing. However, the size of the file is too big for archive. But in order to continue editing I will still archive it as BMP. Uploading this file to internet almost always gets it’s quality affected so not a good file for uploading.
.
02 ~ JPG Edit fr BMP (2KB, 5KB).JPG ~ I’ve been using this file format converted using Paint Brush since I started but found out that MS Word does a better conversion with lower file size.
.
03 ~ JPG Edit fr MsWord (1KB, 5KB).jpg ~ this file format is converted using MS Word and is better than using Paint Brush coz it has lower file size.
.
04 ~ PNG Edit fr MsWord (2KB, 5KB).png ~ Interesting. Best picture quality. I’ve got to read up about this format. It seems as good as BMP and it does not get converted when uploading to the internet. I suspect that it’s file size is not as big as BMP. However, when PNG's size is compared with JPG, it is not consistent, meaning --- sometimes it's bigger & sometimes it's smaller. If it's smaller than JPG then I'd suggest using this coz it's definitely a better picture quality.

Golden Heart ~ by Therese Williamson (1997)

.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Copyright © 1997 Therese Williamson

Mother Teresa’s Words On Prayer

.
Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart.

Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness.

Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well.

The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance. It is joyful freedom. There is no television here, no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy.

I pray that you will understand the words of Jesus, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Ask yourself “How has he loved me? Do I really love others in the same way?” Unless this love is among us, we can kill ourselves with work and it will only be work, not love. Work without love is slavery.

Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing.

Year of the Tiger; Month of the Lion

Born in the Year of the Tiger & in the Month of the Lion (Leo).

Info from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion

The TIGER (Panthera tigris) is a member of the Felidae family; the largest of the four "big cats" in the genus Panthera: the tiger, lion, leopard, and jaguar.

The LION (Panthera leo) is also a member of the Felidae family; and the second-largest living cat after the tiger.

LIONS have been known to breed with TIGERS (most often the Siberian and Bengal subspecies) to create hybrids called LIGERS and TIGONS.

The LIGER is a cross between a male LION and a TIGRESS. Because the growth-inhibiting gene from the female TIGER is absent, a growth-promoting gene is passed on by the male LION, the resulting LIGERS grow far larger than either parent. They share physical and behavioural qualities of both parent species (spots and stripes on a sandy background). Male LIGERS are sterile, but female LIGERS are often fertile. Males have about a 50 percent chance of having a mane, but if they grow one, their manes will be modest: around 50 percent of a pure LION mane. LIGERS are typically between 3.0 and 3.7 m (10 to 12 feet) in length, and can be between 360 and 450 kg (800 to 1,000 pounds) or more.

The less common TIGON is a cross between the LIONESS and the male TIGER.

During confrontations with others, the mane makes the LION look larger. The LION is the tallest (at the shoulder) of the felines, and also is the second-heaviest feline after the TIGER.

Story ~ A True Duck Story (2009)

Something really cute happened in downtown this week to Joel Armstrong who works there in a second story office. Several weeks ago, he watched a mother duck choose the concrete awning outside his window as the unlikely place to build a nest above the sidewalk. The mallard laid ten eggs in a nest in the corner of the planter that is perched over 10 feet in the air. She dutifully kept the eggs warm for weeks, and Monday afternoon all of her ten ducklings hatched.

Joel Armstrong worried all night how the momma duck was going to get those babies safely off their perch in a busy, downtown, urban environment to take to water, which typically happens in the first 48 hours of a duck hatching. Tuesday morning, Joel Armstrong watched the mother duck encourage her babies to the edge of the perch with the intent to show them how to jump off. Office work came to a standstill as everyone gathered to watch.

The mother flew down below and started quacking to her babies above. In disbelief Joel Armstrong watched as the first fuzzy newborn trustingly toddled to the edge and astonishingly leapt into thin air, crashing onto the cement below. Joel Armstrong couldn't stand to watch this risky effort nine more times! He dashed out of his office and ran down the stairs to the sidewalk where the first obedient duckling, near its mother, was resting in a stupor after the near-fatal fall. Joel Armstrong stood out of sight under the awning-planter, ready to help.

As the second one took the plunge, Joel Armstrong jumped forward and caught it with his bare hands before it hit the concrete. Safe and sound, he set it down it by its momma and the other stunned sibling, still recovering from that painful leap. (The momma must have sensed that Joel Armstrong was trying to help her babies.)

One by one the babies continued to jump.. Each time Joel Armstrong hid under the awning just to reach out in the nick of time as the duckling made its free fall. At the scene the busy downtown sidewalk traffic came to a standstill. Time after time, Joel Armstrong was able to catch the remaining eight and set them by their approving mother.

At this point Joel Armstrong realized the duck family had only made part of its dangerous journey. They had two full blocks to walk across traffic, crosswalks, curbs and past pedestrians to get to the closest open water, the San Antonio River , site of the famed "River Walk." The onlooking office secretaries and several San Antonio police officers joined in. An empty copy-paper box was brought to collect the babies. They carefully corralled them, with the mother's approval, and loaded them in the container... Joel Armstrong held the box low enough for the mom to see her brood. He then slowly navigated through the downtown streets toward the San Antonio River .. The mother waddled behind and kept her babies in sight, all the way.

As they reached the river, the mother took over and passed him, jumping in the river and quacking loudly. At the water's edge, Joel Armstrong tipped the box and helped shepherd the babies toward the water and to the waiting mother after their adventurous ride.

All ten darling ducklings safely made it into the water and paddled up snugly to momma. Joel Armstrong said the mom swam in circles, looking back toward the beaming bank bookkeeper, and proudly quacking.

At last, all present and accounted for: "We're all together again. We're here! We're here!"

And here's a family portrait before they head outward to further adventures...

Like all of us in the big times of our life, they never could have made it alone without lots of helping hands. I think it gives the name of San Antonio 's famous "River Walk" a whole new meaning!

Live honestly, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly & Leave the rest to God.

Dying To Finish High School & Start College

(Author Unknown)

First I was dying to finish high school and start college.
And then I was dying to finish college and start working.
And then I was dying to marry and have children.
And then I was dying for my children to grow old.
And then I was dying to retire.
And now, I am dying...
And suddenly I realize...
I had forgotten to live.

To make money we lose our health;
To restore our health we lose our money.
We live as if we are never going to die;
We die as if we have never lived.
